The awning on our Discovery has had some modifications by a previous owner, when we bought it I promised I would take some pics of them. Whilst I not usually one for permanently altering from original, I can understand the reasons for these mods, the same goes for the mods on the actual Dandy.

The front panel by the door has had a horizontal zip put in and ties attached, allowing some of the a front section to opened wide.

The end panels basically have a upside U shape removable panel, they also have 4 zip ends, so just the top section can be opened to allow ventilation.

Ben & I are looking to mod our cumbersome original awning and those mods are EXACTLY what we are looking for....

Shame we wont be able to find out where it was done as it looks a grand job...

It is a fantastic job but i would think fairly expensive, ours is done the easy and cheaper way the end panels zip of for lighter erection if it gets too hot we remove the front panel, not that i wouldn't like that idea

I know what you mean Mike and normally Ben & I would balk at spending large amounts of money (buying a new house at xmas) but we see the Dandy as an investment that should save us money on holidays in the long run. Plus she is fully original since 1989 and has not been used regularly since the end of the 90's and is due some TLC....
