Our New Dandy Empty Our New Dandy

Post by The Admiral Mon 10 Sep 2012, 8:24 am

For those of you who may not have have seen it in the Dandy for Sale thread, we bought a new Dandy last night in a very nerve wracking auction on eBay.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

We went to see her on Saturday, as she lived up to her photos we decided what our top bid was going to be and joined in the auction. It was a very nail biting experience as we really wanted her, but several other people obviously did as well so we ended up paying £2 over our top bid amount but we think she's worth it as she will last us for years!

We can't collect her until Friday as we are currently away in Minnie until then at our favourite campsite The Old Oaks in Glastonbury. We will now be looking at selling Minnie I know I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with her to start with, but since we did her up, it's definitely been all love and I will be sorry to see her go!

Haven't got a name for the new one yet, thinking possibly Olivia, but I'll have to see what her personality is like Very Happy , she's definitely female though! We wil definitely be fitting in at least 1 more camp now as I couldn't wait to next year to try her out. Will post some pictures when we get some taken.

    Hello Jayne

Congratulations on your lovely Designer, I had been secretly watching it on ebay (I am addicted to watching all Dandys now!) Your new designer has gas struts fitted which I am seriously considering getting fitted at Riva/Dandy £380 Rolling Eyes Have you tried to put it up on your own and do they really help?
    Thanks

Hi Allison we haven't actually collected her yet, but I can still answer your gas struts question as Minnie has them (well 3 of them anyway!). They are useful and do make things easier as I'm not very tall/strong, but I would say that with the 4 berth Dandys especially if there is 2 of you they aren't essentIal. On the larger Dandys or if your erecting a smaller one on your own I'd say go for it!

    Thanks Jayne.
I have just got a Designer and although most of the time it will be both of us putting it up I want to be able to use it on my own(let him do DIY jobs at home Laughing)Definitely saving up for them now!

We've just been to collect her & she's safely stored in the garage we rent. Unfortunately it's going to be about 4 weeks before we can take her for a shakedown cruise Sad

We've put Olivia for the first time since we bought her today, took quite a few photos as we unpacked her so that we could pack her away the same way. She went up really well and the friends that were with us were really impressed.

Hopefully taking her away for her 'shakedown cruise', to a small C&CC certied site in Sutton Coldfield next weekend, really looking forward to giving her a run out..

Disappointed now, feeling really rotten so we've decided it's sensible not to go away this weekend after all Crying or Very sad So Olivia's first outing is going to have to wait for a while.
