Dandy Dart for sale Empty Dandy Dart for sale

Post by SIIVION Thu 18 Apr 2013, 1:08 pm

    Hi

Last year I bought a Dandy Dart, not sure of age. As I have not used it and think I won't I offer it for sale.

Most of its life was spent in a garage so it is in fair condition.

I erected it last year and am trying to find the video for it, if i find it i will post a youtube link.

Not sure what it is supposed to have with it but it all seems in order including the trailer cover, large tarpaulin cover, wood for bed bases, foam, internal kitcheny thing, electrical hook up, all trailer lights working.
It has the plastic sides if that helps to age it.

    Open to offers.

Dandy Dart for sale Empty UPDATE

Post by SIIVION Wed 24 Apr 2013, 11:47 am

Hi, sorry for the delay. Waiting for fine weather to erect it.
Thank you to those whom have called, I will post a youtube link at the end of this message.

Located in near North Walsham, Norfolk NR28

Having erected it I have had a good look around it and this is what I conclude:

White outer cover is in very good condition.
Mustard cover is in good condition with one split by the door which had been previously bodged.
Foam bedding is intact and is still very comfortable.
Decor/foam covers are of the manufacturing period I would guess. Somewhat tired.
Cooking area. Is it homemade? Seems a bit flimsy, I have not tried its function.
Extension legs are in fair condition, knobs have previously been repaired. Fully functional.

Tow hitch is 100%, brakes work fine, lights are fine.

Overall it is a trailer tent with a lot of potential, with a few hours to spruce it up and modernizing the interior it would be very nice. Not for me though.

Anybody know what year it is please?

    Open to offer

    Thank you

I think it's mid to late 70's because of the colour and what looks like a plastic tub

    I don't think it's a dart, I think it's a five which later became the discovery.

The bench goes beyond the kitchen and has the extra cupboard which only the five has.

    Looks smart for its age.

Either never given flaps for an awning or late on orange (during brown production) and intended for a full width awning? Anyone ever seen a full width orange awning?
Late on because of the door handle.
A lab craft charging unit for the battery they are classic pieces as well.
Alas probably because of the plastic sides the most unloved of Dandys. People either want a newer one or older for the classic look.
Could be a good starter Dandy though and it has the full sink and cooker that some of the older Dandys lack.

Dandy Dart for sale Empty thank you

Thank you to 'tow itch' and all callers.

It is now sold. I did not cost me a lot so I advertised cheap in the hope it would go to a good home. It has. A first timer, young couple hoping to have some adventures this Summer so that is rather pleasing. Must admit I liked the idea of it last year but never had the time.

Just in case you wonder, sold for a mere £110.
I had thought to break it and keep various parts, particularly the long and robust white plastic cover but it seemed a bit of waste of such a classic with this typical 70's style.

    Happy Camping this Summer.

That's great, so much better to go to a good home than be broken up. It's such a great piece of history.
