Hi all, The time has come to part with our Dandy 4/5 trailer tent, it is an 1980's model (not sure of year) with some small not insurmountable issues (hence the price) but still has plenty of life left in it. This is a 4-5 berth unit with hookup & leisure battery & charger (battery may not be the best but still works). It has a light fitted in the main tent with extra light to plug in & hang in the main tent &/or awning. Mains sockets via hookup rig & 12v sockets around the tent. Water pump may need a service, couldn't get it working recently but didn't have time to do much. Comes with water & waste bottles as well as various other bits & pieces (midge coils, matches, food covers, some plates etc & other bits left by previous owner).
Also has a canvas awning which I believe is original & still waterproof & in quite good condition.
All in all the whole setup is in pretty good order given it's age & that it has lived outside for a number of years.

Now for the not so goods:
Awning poles are creative but functional, a combination of original, modified & plastic tubing (never quite worked out the colour coding the previous owner had set up but always been able to assemble a working scenario which has handles a good variety of weathers)
Rear fog light lens needs replaced, might just pop a new light on before it goes.
Had a little visitor who has munched a bit of one of the smaller cushions but not too badly and it was on the back of it, also had the occasional nibble on the old curtains which we were intending to remove anyway - so they are gone but all the tracks are still in place.

The gas heater in the floor we have never used so would advise it be tested before using, probably worth servicing all the gas kit anyway but cooker & grill work fine. Also comes with 2 gas bottles in the carrier (not sure what the gas levels are like), has a split feeding system to allow changeover whilst in use - not sure if that is standard or even safe but it's there!
Tows well no issues on that side of things but again a service before next year is probably a good idea.

    Any questions please do ask.

    Hello Palmydays

Just looking through your posts and thinking "This was first put up for sale on Sept the 4th" I then realised you had listed the sale in the Technical and Servicing section, so yes it's quite reasonable to re list your ad.

Now while condition is always the most important facet of any Dandy for sale I think you might have done yourself a disservice in placing your ad.
Looking at the pictures the Dandy looks to be a Dandy 5 not a 4/5. Um think I might be having a senior moment but any 5 I can remember has a bench on the LHS (as per the later Discovery) and yours has seats like the later Designer. 5's are 5' 10" across 4/5's 4' 10".
Seeing that the outer walls are two colour and the inner walls have only one I would guess that your Dandy is winterised (insulated) too. In combination with the underfloor heater the insulated Dandys are truly capable of camping for the full 12 months of the year.

Best of luck with your impending sale.

Many thanks for the info Tow Itch, finding out which model I have has been quite a task & it was only by searching similar ads online that I got to where I am.
It certainly is a warm one, my wife & kids have just had a week away in it in the Lakes, frosty overnight & with no heating on it was still so warm they had to open the window & door a bit.
    Regards,
    Dave.

Missed that TH. Looks to me like a Discovery converted into a Designer. The hinges on the seat lids by the kitchen are parallel to the bed possibly indicating a long bench. On the Designer they are parallel to the kitchen and door walls. Having said that, the cushions are really Designer like and the other picture shows an edge detail for where the table will fit as a bed which is Designer.

Wonder if it's a late 80s Designer, but with optional brown/mushroom or whatever PVC rather than the light blue/white which came in in 1987. There always was an option on colour when new colours were introduced.

It also has the over bed window which is Designer.

    I reckon late 80s designer.

Have a look on the A frame and you should see a serial number stamped into it. It's quite large and not very even indicating hand stamping. The last 2 numbers are the year possibly followed by a letter indicating the quarter.

The awning looks interesting too. It looks like canvas but is a perfect colour match.

Thanks for the extra info Navver,
So a late 80's Designer model, fully winterised with a genuine colour matched original awning into the bargain.
Can't be bad, must be someone interested in it eh! Smile
    Regards,
    Dave.

I have to say I don't think this is a very good time of year for selling a dandy. If you can wail until spring you will probably get a for bit more for it.
