Its my understanding the chassis is the wrong dimension for a motor mover and there could be a problem with clearance, you could possibly use a towing hitch one.

These some times receive bad press but with a dandy they would be moving less than half the weight of most caravans,if its for mainly at home rather than on site there is always the winch option.

The beauty of these is if you change your unit you keep the mover.

Not quite as helpful as a motor mover but we are going to get one of those handles like Nicks, it made moving his dandy far easier as you had something to really get hold of.

Nicks picture it shows the handle - simple but effective

Thanks everyone, I think the winch idea is probably the best way for us to go, but will look at which may be the best one first. It will be mainly for home, to get the trailer safely down the drive, when we get home. we think it will be ok to tow out on the back of the car when we take it out of the drive. Its still going to be easier than having a caravan at home,

Does the drive slope up to the road or down to the road?
I see your happy about driving out but want the mover for putting in.
If the entry is downhill partially applied brakes will help.
Other than the Alko handle there is also this type of device.

thanks, towitch, that looks a good bit of kit, my husband thinks he may have one of those, if not he says he can make one, am sure we will resolve the issue once we start using the camper next year and try a few different methods until we hit upon the right one, but all advice greatly recieved.

While I do not yet have a Dandy at this time I now have a little experience with motor movers as I felt that heaving a small caravan around was not something I wanted to do so when I ordered my Sterckeman Starlett I had a motor mover fitted and it really makes a difference moving it on and off the drive with the push of a button. When I arrive on site it has been easy to position the caravan where I want it even if is only 18ft 6in long of course I did need to have a bigger battery fitted in order to make sure I did not end up pushing!

the motor mover would be the best idea barry but we are not able to fit them on the dandy which is a shame really, but we will sort out the best method once we start using the dandy next year, thanks

Yes I saw that the wheel track of the Dandy is only about 4ft while the average caravan has a track of about 6ft 8in and the 2 motors are on a frame bolted to the underside of the caravan and the electronic pack to control it is about 2ft long by 14inches by 4inches thick and then there is the space for a 100 amp hour battery and charger to allow for which will make the camper a lot heavier. Then the need for a hookup to keep the battery charged up. more weight???

Think we have solved the pulling the camper out of the drive, we have been to machine mart today and they have a selection of wynches which would do the job for us, starting from around £95. This will pull just short of a tonne, so should be ok with that, Barry will make it fit on the tow bar whilst the car is at the top of the drive and wynch the camper up from the bottom. hopefully, job sorted,

Wouldn't it be easier to reverse down the drive to your Dandy?

the drive is at a funny angle, so reversing down the drive is not an option, which is why we are looking at the wynch. also the road is not very wide, so its a bit difficult all around,
