Re: A price moan
Our local service station in Kirkcudbright is now charging £1.53/litre for diesel. (nearest supermarket service stations 25 & 35 miles away)
It's only June 2009 when we went to the Outer Hebrides and were complaining that fuel there was 10p/litre more than the mainland at £1.15p/litre. That's a big price hike in a short time.
By the way, Mike, a smiley, sunny face as your avatar? I bet that's much more in keeping with your sunny disposition than old Meldrew.

Re: A price moan
Mike,
Retirement came early and the grin hasn't left my face since. I no longer have to put up with all those people who used to annoy me in a working environment, can now pick and choose who I want to be friendly with and speak to and me and SWMBO get on better than we ever did. I'm pretty sure it's having enough leisure time and Im with the poet Davies when he wrote:-
LEISURE
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare

He's bluffing, he's not as miserable as he makes out
I love that particular poem too, life's too short to not take time out to enjoy it.
