I hope She/He can cope with the change.

My Dandy is called Margo but it just doesn't suit it and I still keep calling it 'The Dandy' so may just forget the name thing What a Face

Thats a great idea, but maybe laurel or hardy might be better! We look like a right pair of comics when we try and put her up!

You'll get there, practice makes perfect. Have you read up on the putting up threads and things?

It's basically a case of remembering the order and being methodical about it, L and H. Laughing

I think our strings are too short, they have knots in them with constant use over the years, I have bought new string to put on when we go out next time. Smile I think because ours is a really old one its slightly different, we dont have any buttons to put the strings on, there are hook things underneath which we think we put the string on?!7

Our green one has little sharp hooks also, mind your fingers - they can drawn blood. affraid Be very careful when opening the low bed side, the hooks where the roof attaches to when it's up can catch on the inside of the roof when it's being opened, it took us a few goes to master the art.

Our strings are just long enough so the bed boards pull the U bars into a vertical position, does that make sense? Have you polished the inside of the roof with a silicone based product? It makes it slide over the metal U bars really easily.

When we first had ours the roof gripped the U bars, and it was a nightmare to do the roof, the previous owners were 6' plus and put the roof on after with out any problem, me and OH are at least 10" shorter and we struggled, sweated and swore - until we had the silicone tip. Thanks Helen. cheers

Yes, the strings are def the problem as the bars dont go up vertically and keep falling down as they lean to the left, we seem to have a prob that there is too much roof hanging down in the middle making it hard to pull up the door and window, will try the silicone though, as you say practice makes perfect, but its very stressful at the time, especially when people are watching you!! If this is any help look at the photo, our strings/ropes are just above the red lines drawn on. They hook over the cleats/buttons that the roof tightening ropes are tied to when erected.

Do it in private lol!

We need to put an extra string on the high bed U bar, to stop that falling down.

Good pic Mr and Mrs P, says it perfectly. Dandy Names - Page 2 1710857839

We did it in private the first time, on an industrial estate near home, as we havent got room at home to practice, within minutes we had an audience of boy racers who went there to practice their driving skills, oh dear!! Embarassed
