What car do you tow with
Thought it may be interesting to see what cars people use, there used to be a chap in the dandy owners club that towed with a 3 wheeler,i have a picture but wont post it because i downloaded it for personnel use only,i towed my first dandy with a 1.2 punto, it was a max load 500kg delta and it would go really well.Changed my punto for a new one then sold the delta and bought the six there are obviously limitations to what a 1.2 punto can do with a 750kg trailer but it works third gear on steep hills and second on really steep hills if i dont get a run, fifth gear on level roads 50mph no problem.

I have a 1.8 Toyota Avensis which tows with no problems, as you'd expect given the engine size only towed for the first time a few years ago so i've never towed with a different car

Re: What car do you tow with
we tow with my Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 Turbo Diesel, its fairly easy and the economy is still upwards of 50mpg when towing. We are considering selling both our cars towards the end of the year and buying a 2or3year old Nissan Navara Pick Up truck or big estate so the bike and dog and basically everything can come with us.

What do you tow with
We use a 2004 Citroen Berlingo 2 litre diesel HDI. Apart from the fact that it looks a bit 'Postman Pat'ish' we've found it to be one of the best and most functional vehicles we've owned. It's got plenty of power for a Dandy, a huge amount of room inside and will still return almost 50mpg when towing. Another plus point is that, because it's a bit higher than most, I can see over the top of the Designer when towing. A luxury vehicle it is not but for general comfort, reliability and practicality we really do rate it highly. I never thought I'd say that about a French car!

Re: What car do you tow with
We now have a Santa fe, we did tow with a 1.6 peugeot SW and I preferred the boot space in that and it used a lot less fuel.
The reason for the 4WD is more about my husband getting to work in winter as we live in Oldham and he works in Yorkshire.

We have been saying for a while now with the lack of real storage space in the dandy your choice would have to be a serious contender if we ever change car.

We tow Minnie with a 1.4 Honda Jazz with no problems. We chose the Jazz because with the seats down there is acres of room inside which was really useful when we used to have a tent and is still useful now with Minnie as it means we can fit all our medieval kit and tent in easily.

Re: What car do you tow with
Found the limit of a 1200 punto towing a dandy 6 on the way home from the meet, a 10% hill with a double bend at the bottom so no run at it needed 2nd gear the lowest i have ever had to go.

Re: What car do you tow with
Hi everyone,
The best car we ever towed with was a zafira it was brilliant, but as the children got older and moved on we decided to go for a smaller more economical car so we got a mitsubishi colt which stood up to the job of towing too, but it was a bit small for us so now some more years later we are on an astra and it is ok but a bit sluggish on hills, i think it would be fine if it was a bit newer but it will do for now, we will have to start saving up again for the next one.
The cars i have described are when towing a 6 berth destiny. of course all of them can whip round with the 4 berth dart like it's not there, one of the beauties of the small dandy.
