As one of the threads was about cooking pots I thought I would see if anyone had a favourite camping meal.

John likes Bacon and Bean hotpot.

Take a pack of bacon and chop the slices up into square bits

Chop a small onion into large pieces

peel some spuds ready to put into a pan to boil and mash

Take a large frying pan and put a tiny bit of oil in and fry the bacon, then add the onions and continue until both are how you want them.

Put a tin of beans into the mix add a bit of pepper and leave until you have boiled the spuds......

Put the mix on a low light to warm through, get your mash ready and when its all done just serve.

At home we dont bother warming the beans but put them in a pyrex dish - add the cooked bacon, onion and pepper then top off with mash and pop in the oven on 180 for half an hour...... you get a crispy top doing it this way.

Have posted this somewhere before but here goes

    Slow cooker

1 x pack of lamb mince (or any other type)
2 x packs of asda or 1 pack of tesco ready diced swede and carrot(no preparation needed)
2 x small to medium onions diced
Put mince in first nearly cover with water next the onion then the veg

Plug it in switch it on go out and enjoy yourself, then about two hours before you want to eat stir in gravy granules, with a few mashed potatoes and a tin of peas
    will feed between 4-8 people

Not food but Argos now list a range of cook books for slow cookers and halogen cookers ,although some rave about the halogen cooker we never got on with ours and gave it away.

    Meal times when camping or caravaning can be limited so here's a website with loads of quick and easy one pot recipes have a look and get some ideas;

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Worth looking through the whole site as there's some good info even though most of it is from acroos the pocd.
