The first fixing system ime looking at is the piece of wood hung over the wall top the length of the awning, with the dandy roof edge over it for a seal, then the awning rail fixed to it i would like a curved rail so going to experiment with the figure of 8 channel, this is plastic so my thoughts are if i use one of the two channels to fix it under the bottom edge of the wood by putting a piece of doweling in the unused channel it may still bend and i can screw through the channel and doweling,if b&q have what i need will try to get a picture to show the basics of the system.

The only thing wrong with thinking out loud on a forum is changes of mind are also in print, not saying the idea above wouldn't work but looking around you tube this morning i found a video of dandys with some original and some none standard awnings, cant put a link as it may cause problems with the source but many of you will have seen it.
On it my awning is shown fitted to a six and it looks like an awning rail has been fitted to the top of the wall under the roof edge, not keen to drill holes but at least this would be well hidden and protected,my main concern would be the dandy roof edge touching the awning roof, does something touching the outside make water wick through the same as touching the in side of fabric awnings.
It looks like the first thing to try as i cant see any alterations to the awning so it would leave other options open if i wasn't happy.

As you know we've had several awnings fitted on our Dandy and we didn't have a problem with anything coming through because of the pvc touching the fabric.

Not gone off the idea but i dont want to add height in fact the awning is a little too tall so will try just fig of 8 with holes drilled in it and tied like the dandy awning,if it works it simple enough to do with only a drill.

I tried the same thing with the plastic awning, if you remember my post from ages ago. I only drilled a hole in each end and in the middle. This isn't enough. The weight of the awning pulls the rails down, and leaves the top edge exposed, so rain can get in, and I have made that flap for the rail to go under too, so thought that would be more than enough, but it isn't. I think 2 more holes will do the job.

Hoping to actually try to fit the awning at Easter weather permitting and put some protection boards in the under seat storage lockers to keep things away from the struts, one thing i will not be happy with is a lack of seal down the sides of the awning against the dandy.
Just ordered some magnets to have ready in case they are any help [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]i intend to do pictures of both jobs.

Caravan porch awning don't seal against the sides but it is not a problem. I have a Sunkamp Ultima 260 (the barrel shape) and it doesn't even have a pole at the back.

Will you try and offset it towards the front end of the 6, so you retain a window outside the awning and have more usable space inside the awning. You don't really want most of the awning taken up with walkway through the middle.

If you look at the picture below of my dandy with a larger awning on the new one will start where the reddish fabric ends to the left of the door,it will nearly cover the window on that side,i dont mind loosing the window.I will need to sort some type of seal as its one of my pet hates it may be enough just pegging the awning slightly under the edge of the dandy will have to look at that.

Looks like it will fit, unfortunately cant get a neat job on the front as concrete paths will not allow for pegging,at the moment i have gone for the figure of 8.
