been looking for a folding camper to use with my kit car, Dandy fits the bill perfectly.
I have managed to bag me a 1978 tango special!
looking forward to using it soon.
will however need a cooker and a door hinge - any offers?

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum New Owner says hi in more than 10 letters 1217042266

for the cooker i'd keep an eye out on ebay as there are often bits that pop up there, depending on your budget, look out for an old dandy that's for spares and see if that's got a useable or fixable cooker which might cost less

there will be lots of ideas from other, more experienced dandiers about the hinges and any other bits that need work for your dandy

some of us are meeting up soon at woodhall spa in lincs if that's near enough to you and you're welcome to camp or visit to meet up if you can get there

Welcome Dave sure you will enjoy your dandy, the door hinge you may have to get from dandy riva sales in wigan
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] as for the cooker you can still get them new but they are pricey, cant look at the moment as ime in a field in Norfolk with a iffy dongle Very Happy they do come up on ebay sometimes though.

What kit car have you got any chance of some pictures.

hi Dave welcome to our forum,if your cooker is the sink/cooker all in one unit then these are readily available off ebay for well under £50 2nd hand,i guess they outlast most other trailers where as dandy's outlast just about everything including their owners lol!

the white one is a Jago, rebuilt from the origional, donors are: transit (engine and gearbox), transfer sj 410, drivechain sj413 with SPOA.
Yellow is (or was) mk 2 escort, now axles are still mk 2 with sierra 1.8td engine and gearbox, this is my daily driver.
Moggy is a 62 4 door which is an ongoing restoration

Hi and a very warm welcome to the forum,

New Owner says hi in more than 10 letters 936075699

I am sure you can sort your Dandy if you can sort the cars to that standard, they look like great fun. My brother has restored a few in the past including an old ford pop. He has yet to get the Dandy bug though bounce

You could always use any old camping cooker for now inside your Dandy and drop the gas pipe out the back to the bottle, just put the pipe through where the velcro is. Make sure you stand the cooker on something heat-proof. Smile

New Owner says hi in more than 10 letters Empty the cooker

    Post by dave36 Wed 06 Jul 2011, 9:49 pm

got one from an old member in Gloucester.
Complete unit cooker/grille and sink - right age, at first glance perfect - but its a couple of inches too long to go in! Grrr Just had a look in the for sales and saw its brother (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1981-DANDY-6-FOLDING-CAMPER-TRAILER-TENT-/260805478684?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cb937c91c) so now I know why it dont fit, its made to feed 6 not 4 Rolling Eyes
Camping this weekend at the Sedgemoor steam and vintage rally, will see if I can reawaken my carpentry skills afterwards and make it fit.
Hinges still a problem, Riva dont reply to emails - the bottom section has a hinge that looks right at first glance but the centre is all wrong and it puts strain on the whole assembly - think its a much more modern one, no stamping on it like the other 4.
On a more positive note, I put the camper up today, scredriver in hand - tightening as I went and the assistance of a few bungees, bravely declined offers of help and had it done in 25 mins - not bad at all! Not tackled the awning yet tho!

It may be best to put your questions in technical and servicing because more members will see and be able to answer, I could move the above for you if you dont want to type it out all over again Laughing
