Re: Grunts - Groans - Moans
well were to start early in the week I decided to treat ourselves to a Chinese so I ordered over the phone and dutifully trudged to collect my order winding my way through the throng of people waiting for their orders, " what you want" she asked " to pick up my order please CAZ " commotion kicked of behind the scene as I started to pay when the owner appeared near on tears shouting " were you bin ? you bin away tooo long ! you go on hooliday for many days!" I agreed and apologized then bowed out quietly thought ahh sweet someone missed me..not that I had been anywhere just playing with the Dandy .then thought oh dear sad when the Chinese miss you and the kebab shop gives you Christmas prezzies so tonight I will cook what oh yea I fancied boiled eggs so in the pan they went with the thing that tells you soft/medium/hard and then went to the front room to pick up my mug for a cuppa, now i'm sitting down watching TV the dogs start barking like mad at the kitchen thinking that the cat had brought in her usual toy rat mice but there waz allot of squealing so I ran in screaming and shouting ya!ya!hoping she runs off with it OH! nothing but the squealing carried on, then with a bang I hit the deck crawled to the doorway then dawn of realization THE EGGS ! I can now state you can burn hard boiled eggs the thing that tell you its cooked has now given up think it now says "what part of cooked don't you understand" so put your coat on were off to the chippy think my son sighed with relief

Re: Grunts - Groans - Moans
On my list this morning was to make loads of phone calls, fine except my phone just says "restricted service" WHAT, WHY? Find out it'd due to the bill not being paid, which I had paid a week ago. So after ringing up I find out that is wasn't processed to a technical error. Anyway it's now sorted and full service is resumed.
Now to return to my original list of things to sort out.

It's still working but it isn't as it should be.

Re: Grunts - Groans - Moans
I know the old saying is "it's like riding a bike you never forget!" put it this way I haven't got there yet to know if I have forgotten how to ride as my dog walking is controlled now and very sedate because I am escorted as the flood caused a ripple of panic through out the land I'm not allowed out and yes I have try'd to sneak out but my neighbors ( bless them ) must have my sister on speed dial as within seconds she appears or a friend SO bike riding is my new mission once i can get on the damm thing well thats not quiet true as I had a plan In my train of thought as a hill without cars is not poss get bike near a railing or pole , leg over sit on saddle while holding said railing or pole and just simply steady self then feet on peddles and push off oh so simple ok pushed bike to secluded spot as before but on my own and found flat spot look for railings not high enough ah pole so held onto pole eventually got leg over tried leg around the back after pain subsided tilted bike got leg over now tiptoeing hugging pole got bum on saddle lessened the hug of pole and placed feet on the peddles ready to GO! GO! the right hand is not letting go then I got myself into a right mess and some how in a predicament bike and body in forward motion still got a tight grip of pole and bending backwards so no alternative but to hold the pole with both hands to save myself falling off backwards trying to get my bottom half to co-operate with the top half and get back into a sitting position again i'm peddling backwards as fast as i can not that it would do anything to help the situation but I did it anyway the problem now is my back is arched backwards and I don't have the strength (ok stomach muscle)to get myself up right now been in this position for 10 or more minutes and well and truly stuck can't get the bike to tilt over so to put the legs down on the ground could let go of pole and crash but self preservation has taken over and hands won't let go now I am well and truly stuck! wondering how long people will miss me could be days and realized not seen anyone pass eventually an old man scurried passed me I saw him after he passed me I shouted for help and he kept going I don't know how long i had been hanging there by the time he came back with his son and just pointed at me yapping on in Welsh thank god his son had a better grip on reality and helped he untangled me from bike and pole and waited while the blood drained from my purple face put me and the bike into the back of his land rover ( Farmer)and took me home note to self not to do that again especially on own could get smaller bike but think ears will get in the way no can't give up got my reputation to up hold think of a new plan and wait for my arms stop aching and tone tummy muscles

Re: Grunts - Groans - Moans
I finally got on the bike.. after last time I bit the bullet and went to a more public place and the railings were the right height so on I get used my left hand ( as its more than likely to do as its told) pre flight checks on the saddle..Check Balance ..check right gear according to manual.check push off I did it ok allot of swerving and wobbling but on my way peddling and feeling oh so chuffed with myself .. going great guns just peddling away enjoying a moment ignoring that my thighs are screaming in pain all is well wham down I went I saw her ! plenty of room to pass but didn't think the stupid cow person would let her little white dog and I mean why would she give her dog the full run of the extending lead as it lunged at my front wheel so I swerved and slammed on the brakes ok lesson 1.. if I had problems getting on why wouldn't I have problems getting off 2.. remember that the front brake flips the back of the bike up 3.. remember which side the front breaks are and don't apply so the bike screeched to a stop back of the bike flipped up! sat back on the seat still on then in slow motion still in the seating position fell over side way's landing on my right side with the bike still between my legs she just walked off now in pain allot of pain two young lads hoody's saw it all and ran over to help they untangled me from the bike em.bless em they stood me up! then the pain really kicked in I grabbed my arm held back the tears thanked them and walked to my sisters as she was just around the corner ..so of I trogged got to my sisters and no sooner as I managed to blurt out what I had done banging at the door .... as I walked off the lads picked my bike up and followed me to return my bike what sweeties my hero's ..got taken to the hospital had xray's done nothing broken your having a laugh it hurts.. they said that with my foot ( thats another story) and I couldn't walk for 8wks swelled twice its size toes all black now she say's that my arms isn't broken cant move the shoulder .. buggered (Technical term) and yep bike has been confiscated .. oh just remembered roller blades in the cupboard

One of thoses days.
Hi all, As we just got desmond on Wednesday, checked the gas pipe, which was 1991 so we wanted to change it asap.
We have a caravan, which is stored in Northumberland, so we wanted to get spare water and waste containers out of it. Knew that we could get pipe, gas-spanner, and regulator in shop there.
Everything great so far. O/H needed to go to motorcycle shop at Bedlington, to pick up some parts that he had ordered last wee.
Came out of shop. the central locking was plating up, couldn't get in the car.Opened it manually.
Got home, the locking worked off key just fine.
O/H had just paid over 16.00 for oil, which he knocked over, open bottle, onto his good boots and carpet.I AM COUNTING TO 10

Re: Grunts - Groans - Moans
Back from my holiday if you can call it a holiday ......... 3 months of rain in just 3 days
Caravan in workshop not that bad, a seal on one of the small rear windows has gone so we thought we had a bad seal on the roof but couldn't figure out why it was only next to the window we had a problem but still thought it was seriously big trouble until we dragged it off a waterlogged site into a repair shop to be told it's a small job so decided to have a full internal and external service done just so we can leave it indoors while the window seal is mended and to save us putting it back on it's pitch while the site is so wet - was slipping and sliding getting it off so tractor had to help.
The Dandy stood up well to the weather ...... it's wet but we weren't bothered about that it's a Dandy after all, it was the strong winds that made things a bit difficult with the awning dismantling and we were wet and cold.
We were supposed to stay until tomorrow but I'm not sure it would have been worth staying as the field was getting muddy and was seriously waterlogged ....... poor people in tents woke up in the middle of a swimming pool!
All in all we're Dandied out for now and shattered.

Re: Grunts - Groans - Moans
It's not so bad, at least we know that the van is good as it's the first time it's been looked at by an expert and he has had it over a pit this morning as we had a squeak that was annoying me too. We were going to get it serviced anyway but now it's having a thorough check over too and if a leaky window seal is the only thing wrong we got a bargain. I was expecting all sorts but I always think the worst when it comes to stuff like this
The most trouble has been the horrible weather and mud. My new Dandy suspension has done a lot of miles in the past couple of weeks and is now officially tried, tested and brilliant

Pleased you're back, shame about the rain though. Bad but good news on the caravan window, hopefully the caravan will appreciate it's time in the dry.
Glad the Dandy suspension is all happy and settled, definitely well tried and tested. We're going away in Monty for the first time ------ I'll put that in the twitter thread.

I hope they got it wrong for you both, it was horrible while we were away but we were nice and cosy tucked up in the Dandy. I think we talked to each other more over the past week than we have in a long time, we played cards as I've banned a tv in the Dandy, it is there but it's staying under the seat for a while. We did enjoy our time away but could have done with a bit of dry weather at some point.

Now I have the tv just for very important occasions that will be televised ...... such as a murder in Eastenders, a marriage in Coronation Street or a massive disaster in Emmerdale Village

Re: Grunts - Groans - Moans
hi caz1960, Havent decided which is the best type to go for yet but googled nest boxes with cameras and a variety of boxes and gadgetry came up.
We have three concrete preformed boxes in the garden at present and all have been used over the past four or five years. this year the great tits were finished about three weeks ago missed them too. the blue tits I had high hopes of seeing but they decided to go just after the rain the other day.
I think I will opt for the boxes with the camera already installed as I cant see myself drilling holes in the boxes already there. Whichever we decide to go with, they should ideally be in place from autumn onwards as the birds scan for likely places over winter.
Essie xxxx
