Is there anything you do that you can pass on to other Dandy Owners when your packing your Dandy away over winter - for those who don't winter camp.

First thing I can think of is to make sure there is no water left in the pipes that could freeze, we do this by turning the pump off and then turn the tap to an open position and blow through the tap - we do this every time we use the Dandy just so there's no water left in the pipe or pump. If you have a Destiny with en-suite make sure you empty not only the cassette but also the flush ...... a friend of mine had his freeze over winter affraid

Perhaps you use bowls of salt to absorb moisture or the type of things with granules that do the same thing.

We don't pack our Dandy away for winter but we do leave the cheap dehumidifier boxes that you get from large stores inside .... they smell nice as well as absorb moisture.

If any of you buy the water absorbing crystals that then drip into a catch tray then I suggest you place the whole lot into a plastic bowl.
I had these crystals but the tray spilled.
The resulting solution doesn't do a right lot for your carpet!

I can't remember if it was on here or the 'other' forum but I seem to remember someone recommending a ultra sonic pest repellent to discourage little furry friends from moving in to your camper over the winter. Try as I might I can't the thread again, can anyone remember what it was?

yes you can get some to run off batteries as long as they last but for me they give me a migraine as it seams that I have the HEARING of a mouse ( no comments from the cheep seats Packing away for winter ? 3462454224 )

Anyone with a leisure battery should top it up over winter or if it's not getting used ..... we've had a battery die because we failed to do this Neutral

We brought the leisure battery's in yesterday to check them, one was flat and the other almost so we've charged them overnight. In these temperatures we would use EHU but prefer not to during the summer and rely on them so like to make sure that when we do need them they will be good to go. Don't forget that you also need to top them up with de-ionised water too.

We also move the Dandy from time to time to try to avoid flat spots on the tyres, we have some axle stands that we forgot about but found in the garage yesterday so will be using them again

It may be a bit late to mention it but if you have a Destiny en-suite make sure that you've drained the loo system thoroughly including the flush to avoid problems with freezing.

I've got the urge, but it's just too cold, I'd love to know just what I've left inside as I seem to be missing some favourite tools. Did No 1 son "borrow" them or are they in the Dandy scratch only an erection can solve the problem Very Happy

I've also persuaded myself that the door-fold rivets need replacing so I can't wait for the snow to melt to get to work bounce
