non alcoholic drinks

Was reading on another forum about people giving up alcohol and the problems associated with that.
Mark and I are not too keen on evenings out. Him because he likes a glass or two of wine each day and myself because I rarely get home before 7:30 and then I am on call two times a week.
What I did find was the couple of times we went out over christmas and new year was
a. most people 'wanted' me to have a drink if Mark was driving, or more than one.
b. when I was driving, the hostess offered a glass of coke. I dont like coke much so do you recommend any other soft drinks that I could offer the non drinking guests at my get together.

Lime cordial and lemonade

Just about to add and Mikes comment has been posted this is very similar Mike but then again it's nothing like it.

You may want to try this at a bar before buying as one of the ingredients is upwards of £6.00 but it will make 60 to 100 glasses of the drink.

Rock Shandy. Take a pint glass and give 2 to 3 good shakes of Angostura Bitters or more to taste. Swirl to coat the glass for effect if desired. Add about 1" of lime be it proper lime juice or a lime flavoured cordial. Do not under any circumstances use Schweppes Lime Flavoured Cordial this is the most foul substance known to man. Applied neat to your lips it gets a good percentage of peoples lips to pulse and if added to lager clouds several lagers. Fill the glass to about 2" from the top with lemonade stir then top out with ice. A pleasantly sharp and tart soft drink a pleasant change as most soft drinks are sweet. There is technically an alcohol content as Angostura is 44.7% ABV (Normal Spirits 40%) but as you are only adding 2 or 3ml it is a non alcoholic drink.

When feeling in a more celebratory mood the Angostura Bitters can then be used to make pink gin and a champagne cocktail or even used in the kitchen to marinate meat.

I like Shloer .... white grape and elderflower, I like the other flavours but that's my favourite grown up soft drink

I've been known to Shloer but only after 9 pints.

Had a poor week getting that way tonight. Spieilchick strops wurtuul sluewering!

Phil Vickery recommends lemonade with a splash of balsamic vinegar ...... although it sounds awful people who tried it said it was really nice.
