with servicing the Dandy for the big trip all mechanics being greased, inspected , or replacing as we knew the Dampener was broke so spoke to Indespension , they reply was" oh yes we have it in our catalogue but never stock it" affraid" WHAT! sorry am I speaking to the Indesepension people and according to your catalogue you stock it " "erm! yes and erm!no you need Alko they have it " then proceeded to give me the Alko part number so bemused I checked out my local Alko dealer and spoke to them , spoke to a nice helpful lady and went to the place the next day Dampener or no dampner 2197500976 caravan and motorhome place anyway in we go and asked this very unhelpful man and showed him the part " he measured up the ones that they stock (all of 4 types) it is the first time that I have seen someone choke on their words " it's for a trailer tent " well I did see red and stated with pride " NO IT'S FROM A DANDY and next time you serve a customer try not to look down your nose at them" he then sent us to a trailer chappie very helpful but no so phoned Dampener or no dampner 2161515090 at RIVA IAN Dampener or no dampner 2161515090 Dampener or no dampner 2161515090 when I explained the saga he said he will contact Indespension and they will contact us today Dampener or no dampner 2792229418 Dampener or no dampner 2792229418 Dampener or no dampner 2792229418 something I thought was so simple but nope so now answering every phone call I have gone through 5 surveys, in the running for an i pad Dampener or no dampner 9639063

As it's a gas strut you might try the usual suspects for gas struts. If it's got special ends will they unscrew?

Must be half a dozen suppliers. Who did you use for the replacement side struts?

these are the picture from Alko same part number as the old one

the top dampener is the old one from the Dandy the body is smaller

as you can see there is an sticky out bit on the new one

all fitted now with no problems or alterations just have to test it now but anything would be better than one that does not work

just been told " in using the original rear bolt and ordinary nylock nut was too deep so a stainless steal one was shallower "
