Hi just received 750kg units to go on to my discovery , jacked up the dandy stripped off old units ready for replacements then wot the?, ")/@@(''",w dont fit . The new units mounting plates are a good inch wider than old ones yet these are the exact part numbers that were quoted as a like for like replacement upgrade ,after looking at Helens pictures on replacement units my replacements look different ie the couperling from hub to mouting plaie is box section on excisting unit whereas the new one is a rounded link, also the whole unit is a lot heavier grade .
Options now with a holiday looming nxt week and work commitments are to belt up to bolton to see if theres any swops or put old ones back on and hope not to much damage from virtualy no damping traverling down to s w wales also does any body know if indespension has changed all its designs something wrong somewhere.
    Many thanks for any help

How old is your discovery. What colour is it green, orange, brown, light blue?white etc. That gives an idea of age. Pheonix renovated an orange one and the suspension was welded on, not bolted.

Here's some useful info: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

As far as I know the mounting plates are different and the leg is longer on the 750kg which will push the wheel back slightly in the wheel arch.

I believe most people get some square section steel tubing and weld a 500kg plate on the top and a 750kg plate on the bottom.

Nicks thread [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

    Hope this helps.

Possibly the quickest way out would be to get some new 500kg units which will work OK and will probably raise the ride height a bit.

Then do the 750kg upgrade later when you have more time if you still feel you need to.

The 750Kg suspension does have a lot of advantages but it is not a direct replacement.
If you fancy fitting the 750Kg units the piece that Navver quoted is quite useful [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but he gets his maths wrong. Read to the end of Nicks piece to see how much further forward the mounting has to be.

Don't forget that if you upgrade the suspension you will also need to upgrade the tyres and most likely the wheels to carry the extra weight.

I went for the straightforward 500kg option as the 750 upgrade was more involved that just popping the old off and putting the new on Smile
