Wasps in Awning Empty Wasps in Awning

Post by fearful wizard on Sun 15 Sep 2013, 11:59 am

just spent three days camping, and i was plagued with wasps in the awning.
Has anyone got any tips for getting rid.
I tried the jar with jam and water in, and they were going in and drowning but it only attracted more.
I was told at this time of the year they get drunk by feeding off the fruit and berries. Pete. Sad

Some say the imitation wasp nests work.hang one outside and the other wasps stay away, never tried it though.

Rub Vicks menthol rub onto the areas where they are coming in. I work in pest control and use it on roof spaces. Try not to kill wasps early in the year though as they do a lot of good. This time of year they are old and sleepy and liable to sting.

That sounds like an excellent tip man_tuesday - I'll pack some Vicks in the 'odds & sods' box as we call it.

Most people seem to think that wasps are completely pointless but I'm sure I've read that they are important to plant pollination. Is there anything else that they're good for?

I certainly think that they're the most attractive insect - if they didn't sting I'm sure they'd be loved at least as much as ladybirds.

We've had a full season of being plagued with earwigs in the awning Shocked normally camping we find different bugs at different times of the year but have never had an earwig problem every time out! They were even in the windbreak pole sleeves affraid they make my skin crawl Twisted Evil earlier on we had lots of bees which I thinks a good thing because we need them

September we usually get dragon fly's but haven't had many.

A few years ago, before we had our Dandy, we woke up to 230 crane flies in the awning. What a Face

did you count all of them Wasps in Awning 3462454224

don't kill bees or wasps because they release a pheromone that tells the others that there's danger and they swarm to its defense I place a bit of old banana away from my area and they hunt that Wasps in Awning 2792229418
