Do you remember ..............
I was talking to my daughter last night and telling her about when I was a kid and we had germolene flavoured bubble gum, we also had 'palma violet' sweets that tasted of perfume, that got me thinking of all of the sweets that were around years ago like 'milk teeth' and 'cherry lips' and 'rainbow crystals'.

I liked 'Black jacks' .......... used to chew them until they were soft and then stick it over a couple of teeth so it looked like a few were missing

I used to get chocolate limes as my mum loved them so it was a grown up sweet, even though they could cut your palate when they started melting in your mouth lol

Re: Do you remember ..............
Talking of cutting your mouth my mum once made treacle toffee for a bonfire party and boiled it for so long it was rock solid and when we hit it with a hammer it shattered into bits that really would cut your tongue, it tasted good though.
She also made jam once that was boiled for too long and turned into something similar
When pressure cookers first came out my mum made pea and ham soup in hers and when she took the little component off the top to let the steam out the pea soup was like an oil strike and spurted up into the air hitting the kitchen ceiling.

Re: Do you remember ..............
I bought some treacle toffee last year and was sadly disappointed as it was soft and chewy
And I love chocolate liquers, our local shop used to sell single ones that sat on the counter in a large tray, they were in the shape of little bottles and they used to sell them individually and to us children. They couldn't do that now
