Roof Bungees
We use bungee's to help hold the Dandy roof in windy conditions it just stops any wind getting under and lifting the roof. We made our own using 6mm bungee and hooks. You can also add a loop to the end of a guy rope and use these, both methods are as effective.

Re: Roof Bungees
We used bungee for ours as well but tied a knot in the top and a loop in the bottom part, works well, but word of warning don't let the bungee slip. I did and it hit me in the eye, was very painful.

Re: Roof Bungees
Yes they can hurt if they flick back, best thing is to let the other half do it

Re: Roof Bungees
That's the trouble Lynn, if you want a job doing properly then it's best to do it yourself.
An alternative that we have used with our daughters dandy is guy ropes with a loop at one end, thread it through the eyelets on the Dandy roof and slip the loose end through the loop to fix in place then attach the other end to the buttons and tighten via the sliders. I still prefer the bungee's as you seem to get a tighter fit.

Re: Roof Bungees
Our bungees are now the correct length so tighten just as I want them too............. that's when you let the other half do them.

Re: Roof Bungees
Our roof is held down by guy lines in turn attached to the cleats on the side of the Dandy, we replaced these shortly as the original ones were frayed and worn, although the wooden tensioners were a nice touch.

Re: Roof Bungees
Just getting round to this. Is there any need to do anything on the awning or sun canopy side. Surely both sides need doing.

We dont do the awning side if the awning is erected

Re: Roof Bungees
We did use velcro on the inside edge of the Dandy roof and the top edge of the sun canopy and it helped, we found that on occasion the roof did flap as air whipped under the canopy and roof .... we only use bungees on the back of the Dandy with the awning on because the air doesn't seem to effect the Dandy Roof in the same way

Re: Roof Bungees
I wonder if the wind hits the vertical side of the dandy with no awning, them gets deflected up thus lifting the flap & roof. With an awning/canopy the wind is flowing over the awning roof and gently lifts to miss the roof flap. Hence there is no need for bungees.
