Fitting under bed pvc wall Empty Fitting under bed pvc wall

Post by bigdaddyvoyager on Thu 18 Aug 2011, 7:14 pm

Hi Folks,
Just got a Dandy Designer and had a great week camping in Cornwall. We have an extention canopy and thinking about making some side panels for it and also something to go the front to stop the draught - has anyone any ideas about how best to attach to both the Dandy and also the canopy. Unless someone has a full awning available for sale!!!

Regards

John

If its a pvc canopy press studs could be the answer,i know some of us found pvc on ebay that would probably do but i dont have a link any more,a complete awning would be the answer but as you probably know not easy to find,if its just a draught stopper could you use windbreaks while looking for an awning.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for that - I was looking at either press stud or using a lacing system - track down some white pvc fabric on fleabay at a tenner per m but it is 2m wide so about £45 for two side panels - think i'll go with that. Maybe use press stud for the under bed curtain as well. Next to impossible to get a full awning and not sure we really need a full one - anyway thanks for the advice.
Cheers

Heavy duty velcro is reported to work but i dont know what sewing machine you would need.

Hi Mike,
Got some options - also saw some velcro with a waterproof glue strip - super strong which could work - press stud system might be more long lasting - not sure if a home sewing machine would be strong enough - thanks again john

Hi John,
Self adhesive heavy duty Velcro would work but only as a temporary measure without being stitched. Press studs would offer a more permanent fix without the need to access an industrial sewing machine. I can supply press stud kits with coloured caps to match the PVC and can also supply high quality PVC cut to the required lengths and widths, this PVC is specially made for outdoor application and is treated for UV and fungiside. I can also make up under bed skirts and if you would like a price just let me know the sizes you require and I would be please to quote,

many thanks

Mick

Hi John, I used some gazebo side walls on our sun canopy, they just velcro on and if you stitch some loops on the bottom you can peg them down. Along with windbreaks around the outside of the dandy it worked a treat. Very Happy

Hi Thanks for your thoughts.

Mike,

Next time we put up the dandy I will measure and let you have the measurements for a price.

Thanks

i was thinking of doing an underbody skirt having pvc around the 3 sides but holding in place using sleeved poles so a bit like a custom made windbreak.I cannot see any other way of attaching a skirt to the dandy, short of getting flaps welded to bottom of the wings which would be expensive.

Good idea - the people who had the Dandy previously had that sort of thing just using windbreaks. It would be a hassle free option - liking the sound of it more and more.
