tap in the dandy Empty tap in the dandy

When we were away last time in the dandy we didn't have a battery or plug on the water pump, so we just used a new water carrier. Now we can use the tap, someone said we would need to sterilize the aquaroll, will we need to do anything with the tap and pipe or will it be safe to use the tap for drinking water.

Guess you could run Milton through all of it and it would be ok,after saying that i have never drunk water from the system of any of my units in over 30 years of camping just dont fancy it.

if you are concerned i'd just put pump in bucket with water and sterilizer tablet pull that through drain off and happy days you can use steredent for false teeth (cheaper than the tablets at camping shops, if you know someone with false teeth even better free) cheers

We sterilized ours overnight whilst camping, we used something called Crystal Clear the first time and it was expensive but to be honest we have only used Milton for the past few years as it's so much cheaper and if it's good enough for baby's bottles it's good enough for us. We put the solution into the fresh water container and pulled through the system then turn the tap off, this means the fluid is in the pump and pipes too, leave overnight and then rinse the fresh water container with a bit of fresh water, fill it again with fresh water and just turn the tap on for a minute to rinse the pipes.

We have a two supplies of water, the main one outside pumped in via a foot operated pump for washing up etc, and the drinking water is in a 1960's colemans water cooler, so we always have a nice supply of cool water to drink.
