Good idea. According to the three coverage map, the signal is 'outdoor coverage' Your phone might be on the roof yet, lol!

That's true, you won't even have to 'put it near a window'

Kevin wants to see the two systems to see what they are like etc, it will be a technology holiday. santa

Do you mean use the phone at Christmas as well as internet? If not, I don't follow, lol. If so, it's the same signal, three only use 3g and the new hspa. At least calls don't need as strong a signal. rendeer

I meant i wanted a mobile phone as well as internet connection for the lap top that's the only reason i didn't get mifi, all in all i would expect mifi to be quicker.

I now follow, lol. We looked at the one plan, but as our phone contracts have ages left to run and as we don't use that much data, we felt we wouldn't get enough use from it, but we shall see how it goes.

We chose mifi over a dongle because it's more future proof for our needs. We did have the option of the dongle with the new hub, but that can't run from usb, so we wouldn't be able to take it camping. Do there things like camping? lol!

Hi Nancy, we and the dog are looking forward to meeting you and everyone else also.

I'll test Kevin his message as he can't see it at the mo. I'm sure his reply will be hi and long, lol!

I'm on it now, plugged in via USB at the moment, not sure how to do the wifi way, lol. It's loads quicker than our Vodafone dongle. cheers

Because it's quicker, we will now probably use loads more data and find it's not the best value price plan for us. Christmas Meet 2011 - Page 2 3462454224

We got the PAYG one as we only use about 1 - 1.5 gb per month. I can get from amazon 12gb for £52 which expire after 12 months, so if the each months usage is varied, it will average out nicely.

Today the netbook's internet has been running slower than my phones gprs signal, but the wifi signal on my phone is well quick, that suggests to me it's the computer.

Any other ideas, or what I can do to sort it out? Typically it is one day out of guarantee.

Cazz,

If your computer is running slow you could try clearing out your temperary internet files and doing a disc clean. We were advised to do this recently by one of our customers, who is a computer guy. It has helped a bit but our laptop is 5/6 years old. He did say it would make a good door stop. lol!

Thanks Phoenix, i'll try that. What do I do? Lol. My C drive is over 90% full, do you think that could be causing some grief?

I would love a tablet, or perhaps I need a course, lol.

I am not that whizzed up on computers but 90% probably isn't helping. To clean out the temp internet files, click on the small gear symbol on the browser bar. Select internet options. On the general tab you will see browsing history. If you click on settings, then view files you will see all your temp internet files. Close the tabs back to internet options then select delete, you should get a tab where you can tick temp files and cookies, but leave passwords etc clear if you want to keep them.

To do disc clean, click on start, then all programs, then accessories, then system tools. There should be a disc clean button there.

As I said we are not computer whizzes but it helped ours a bit. Just passing on advice given to us. Hope this helps. Smile

That's excellent tips, thanks Phoenix. The first instructions are a bit different on chrome, but I sorted it out, I cleared web history 'to the begining of time' not bad considering i've only used chrome for a few months.

I'm just going through the disc clean up, but that is taking it's time, lol.

Why oh why does it have to be slower than my phones gprs signal one day after getting the new connection?

Heaven only knows Cazz.
We are soon going to look at new phones. We are probably going to O2 as we have poor vodafone reception here. We really are not sure what phones to go for yet. You and Mike have totally lost us both with your dongles, tethers and everything else. lol!
We just want a phone to call, text with and if we are feeling really brave possibly connect to the net with. affraid

lol! I seem to get on better with phones for some reason.

Well the clean has finished, and there's no change. I'm googling wifi problems with the samsung N110, it seems to a common problem of pages say they are loading, but infact they aren't. But if it's plugged into usb, that can't be wifi, can it? God, my poor head, I think I will pop the lot into the bin, sorry shop and ask them to test the wifi.

Strangely this forum loads with out any protest. confused

When they won't do what you want it gets frustrating doesn't it. I have often threatend to throw ours out of the window. The better half always reminds me to open the window first. Christmas Meet 2011 - Page 2 1705467399

Open the window for windows to be thrown through. Christmas Meet 2011 - Page 2 3462454224

This is done via wifi on my phone, it's saves standing in the garden to get a better phone signal. It does work on the phone nicely.

Anyone got a spare computer I can borrow on a long term loan please? lol!

cazz what version of windows are you using, looking back at the previous posts i cant see any mention of defragging, this is moving files back into a more sensible order and makes the hard drive neater and in theory faster, there most likely will be an option to do this if you are on an early version of windows ie xp on the later versions i think it is automatic.
90% full c drive cant be good, think you said you had a note book then i guess no dvd drive to enable you yo move stuff and then delete it.
Do you realy need all that 90% on the drive,i dont know what is safe to use but i used a drive cleaner about 12 months ago called cc cleaner which was free and safe at that time but i dont know if it still is safe.

Your not wrong cazz just been looking at wifi connection problems on your laptop and your not on your own,i have a samsung laptop think its a 510 fantastic but i did have intermittent problems with it on wifi it used to cut out after about 30 min the laptop showed good connection to the phone and the phone showed good connection to the net,i ask a question on the three blog they assured me three wasn't cutting my connection and also checked with htc who said the phone shouldn't cut of after a predetermined time either, they suggested i sent the phone back but i decided not to,it now looks to have cured itself most of the time.
One thought that does occur is if you are surfing with your phone you often load phone specific pages which are smaller but the laptop connects to main sites and the last few days i believe have been very busy on line.

If you are getting a slow connection make sure each page is fully loaded before you click the next one,but you probaly know that after using a dongle for so long Very Happy

Hi Mike, it's running windows 7, the very basic one for netbooks.

I did a defrag earlier this year, and now its says discs are 0% fragged, that's from memory, it could be different. I also did a disc clean, it made 1.9gb.

Thinking back to a whole few days, lol. I did try the unit whilst we still had our old contract, it had trouble loading a page, I put it down to being my fault not doing something right and went back to using vodafone, that was fine. So I don't think it's the netbook itself, its seems to point to at a communication problem between the new connection and netbook.

I think I will take into the shop and ask if they can show me how to work it, let's see how they get on. santa
