Re: Hi from Pete (Fearful Wizard)
Hello
I'm a few days behind as I've been without a computer.
95 Discovery: I wouldn't have thought that there would be much to referb.
What's good, what's not, what have you got planned?
Kevin.

Re: Hi from Pete (Fearful Wizard)
Hi Towhitch,
Not too much to do to the dandy (mainly cosmetic)
work done so far
Reundersealed, brakes inspected and reajusted, all bungeees replaclaced, repainted bed supports, pvc cleaned inside and out, replaced any loose rivets found.
work to do.
Fit brackets to to bed, so no chance of slipping off bed supports (have made them)
New carpet and curtains (faded), electrics, zig unit etc: are under the cooker not easy to get at,so im going to move, possibly to under the single bed.
It has an awning but its very heavy, so looking at alternative awnings.
I would like to fit gas struts later when i can find suitable struts, and i would need measurements ect:(if any member or the forum have them fitted to a discovery, and could post photos and measurements i would be grateful)
We have never been camping before so this will be a new experience, so trying to make it as comfortable as possible.
We are in our 60s so not looking to rough it.
Pete.

You can improve the original awning by having the sides made to zip out, makes them a lot lighter for erecting.

The Yahoo Dandy forum has details on this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] You may need a Yahoo email account to access.I would like to fit gas struts later when i can find suitable struts, and i would need measurements ect:(if any member or the forum have them fitted to a discovery, and could post photos and measurements i would be grateful)
Ian fits these and there is an alternative in Staffordshire (the people who do lowered access Dandys for wheelchair use.) the general discussion is that bigger diameter struts are more robust and that ex MG Metro struts have bent in use.
