We have stayed at this site for 5 nights May 9th-14th 2011, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, even lending us a hook-up lead as ours was too short, we were shown to a sheltered pitch which had a slight slope but not too bad once we moved the frame over a foot or two. On arrival the site was sparsely occupied bit this changed during the week.
Our only problems were a faulty mains hook-up point which kept tripping for no reason this was reported and rectified the same day. There were children on site who made good use of the play area which is really only suitable for under 10s, older kids may find it a little dull as there is no club on site, but all was quite by 10pm, pleased to report no noisy parties. The site is all connected for wi-fi and card are available from reception for this at a maximum cost of £20.00 per week, we gave it a go and although fine for browsing any streaming of i-player etc was not available due to bandwidth.
The site itself is well kept with a mixture of hard standing and all grass pitches, there are plenty of water, electricity and waste bins on site. The two large toilet/shower blocks are cleaned daily, although not heated so they did feel chilly at night, water temperature for the showers varied from day to day but was never uncomfortable. There are dish washing facilities, chemical disposal points and even a drive over drain for motorhomes. For those wishing a more basic experience there are plenty of non service pitches.
The on site shop doesn't really stock much other than bread, eggs, milk, kids toys etc as well as a small line of camping accessories, they are happy to order your daily paper but you must pay in advance for which a small charge is made.
Barmouth itself is a pleasant (subject to weather) 20 minute walk down the prom which is accessed from the site via a foot crossing over the rail track, trains are infrequent and seemed to be about six a day that went past, the town has the usual gift shops, a small fairground, 2 amusement arcades and plenty of cafes, a weekly market is held on Sunday and Thursdays and there is also an Iceland store and a Co-op supermarket
For those wanting a drink or a bite to eat there are plenty of nice pubs nearby and a couple were dog friendly as well.
All in all a very nice site with what seems to be a reasonable price structure.
