Going round in circles Empty Going round in circles

Post by mike Sun 08 Jan 2012, 11:15 am

As some will know i bought my 6 so i didn't need an awning, then i found i wanted one and was very lucky to get an original awning at a very good price that matched the dandy colours.
Up to know i have been happy using the awning for longer stays and a utility tent for the shorter trips, now though i find myself wanting an awning even on the two or three nights, first thoughts where to have a smaller one made out of pvc utilising part of the standard frame, a estimate of cost would be around £800 if i was 43 i would probably go for it expecting to still be able to manage a dandy for 30 years but as ime 63 who knows i could find i struggle any time in the future.
To this end i have decided to go for the type in the picture below,i think just enough room and easily thrown over the cloths line if i return home with it wet, will keep this thread updated as to where i get to and how i fix it,my intention at the moment is still no alterations or permanent fixings on the dandy.

be interesting to see how you get on. I'd like a lighter awning too, although my dandy is smaller than yours so the same one won't fit. However i'm interested to see how you get round it.

I know Helen did really well with her previous dandy but again it was bigger than mine and i'm struggling to find an awning the right height.

i'm still thinking of nicking that lovely one Nick's friends have on their VW lol

That was one we considered too but decided that cosmetically on our Dandy (not being as versatile as the 6 to fit an awning to) it would just not look how we wanted it to.

It would have to stay within the limits of the trailer sides so i dont have bed ends to seal, and of course clear the door, with erecting the dandy i can only say it looks like it may fit.

Mike, i'm looking forward to following your progress, you remind me of me. lol!

We've currently got two awnings for the campervan, a big one and a small one, a toilet tent and awning for the Dandy, as well as two different types of sun canopy, not including the Dandy roof.

Now we've decided to take the Dandy with the campervan, I just hope the Dandy doesn't wear out, it should be in it's retirement now. Shocked

The awning in question would clear the door then it needs a rail between 235cm and 250 cm high.

Pete you could consider getting the sides cut and zips installed to cut down on the weight.
    Mike has done this.
The zips need to start at the front. The rear is too high.

Mike your panels zip all the way to the front?
Any thoughts of one being u zipped or more correctly n zipped to provide tie down points to use roof as a sun canopy?
