cleaning solution for dandy pvc
I have tried the simple stuff such as washing up liquid, and car shampoo, but the stains, especially on the roof will not shift. Is there a magic product I can use?

There are specialist solutions but they some times remove a small amount of pvc the most popular is ciff working on a dry surface with a damp cloth small areas at a time, hard work first time but a coat of mr sheen after makes a lovely job.

Re: cleaning solution for dandy pvc
Just gone barking looking for this topic because I thought I'd posted on it earlier.
Re Helen's comment on using silicone spray.
The spray is also brilliant for zips.
Cazz sprayed my awning's zips at the Christmas meet.
Then after seeing the difference I bought a can and sprayed them again.
They positively glide, no more tugging at battleship chains!
Is there a Soluyion for the tryping error in the titel?

Re: cleaning solution for dandy pvc
Most supermarkets have an own brand of cream cleaner at a much cheaper price and it works just as well

Re: cleaning solution for dandy pvc
I have found some liquid pvc cleaner that a double glazing fitter gave us a few years ago. It states that it's for hard pvc, so not sure whether to try it or not. I may try it on the inside of the skirt first.

Re: cleaning solution for dandy pvc
Thats the type of stuff that often works by sacrificing a layer of pvc,the best way to check is use a coloured cloth on a unimportant white part and see if the cloth turns white, personally the stuff scares me.

Re: cleaning solution for dandy pvc
Those cleaners tend to be solvent cleaners and although I have used it on tough stains I would only use it as a last resort. I did do my Dandy with it once but that was before I realised exactly what it did and when I checked using Mikes cloth method on my old cover I found it did show on the cloth as light blue

Re: cleaning solution for dandy pvc
Yes. I have just read some reviews and stuff on the actual cleaner I have, and it works by melting a layer of pvc, which I suppose why it's for hard pvc. I think I'll stick to the cif cream.
On the plus side, I did manage to get the sticky cellotape residue off the patio doors

Re: cleaning solution for dandy pvc
The worst mark you can have is if some one has carried the spare wheel on the roof nearly impossible to get off without something like the cleaner you have, dont know if i would do that or not

My daughters has that Mark from the spare and we tried this stuff and it didn't touch it. We did only try it the once and cleaned the area immediately after but it was a risk we took and had no effect whatsoever.

I know cif is good for cleaning the Dandy because her indoors always makes me do the scrubbing while she just takes pictures of me doing it to put on the forum.

This side wasn't quite as dirty as the other side (first picture)
But you can clearly see the difference Cif cream and Ajax powder made.

It will all be worth it in the end and if it's kept on top of it wont get to that stage again.

Re: cleaning solution for dandy pvc
I know, but what worries me is that it took me nearly 2 hours to get 1/4 roof almost white, and that is the cleaner 1/2 of the roof.
I have managed to get the cushion covers off, and back on again. My fingers are so so sore. Has anyone ever tackled those button/tags before that go right through the cushion cover and the cushion? OMG!!!! Do you remember me saying the cushions weren't dirty, just a bit smelly. Well they certainly were dirty. The colour of the water in the washing machine...... They have come out and dried so much brighter. Maybe I SHOULD'VE gone to spec savers!!!
Is there any magic product to put on the roof once cleaned, to stop it getting stained again? Or at least to help?
If not, I feel I do need to put something on it, as the abrasive effect of the cif and the Ajax I feel may be a little harsh on the pvc.

We always use mr sheen but others say silicone spray but to be honest once a year cleaning and it will never be like that again
