    Valuing computers? Empty Valuing computers?

Is there a web site for the UK where you can find out the value of a computer?

I've found one in America, where you put in the make, model and spec, it then gives an approximate value. Obviously it's not ideal for here. Rolling Eyes

    hi,

    havent come across any myself.

but is it to value one for purchase or selling ?

I used to build them for a living and still tinker with them every so often.

It's for a friend of mums, she wants to sell a Dell Inspiron one, 19, it is just over two years old. I also have the rest of the spec if you have any thoughts , suggestions or ideas. confused

have a look on gumtree for similar spec computers , failing that ebay, etc for 2nd hand prices.

also take a look at what a similar spec costs new from the net

having had a wee look on the net looking at around £300 plus or minus

I've had look on ebay and done general searching for the same or similar, but can't find any second hand ones, only new, which are priced around the £300 to £400 mark.

I wonder what the rough depreciation guide is for a desk top with a mid review.

hard to say on the price decreas over time

the prob with pc's is they never hold their value as faster better cpu. graphics cards etc come out so often.

I would stick it up for sale around £250 ovno for it on local shop boards , gumtree etc.
problem with all in ones - even though they are nice to look at and compact they are a nightmare to change parts in them and are generally no use for upgrading graphics cards. similar to laptops

make good media centres though for studies etc.

Please dont think Im trying to put a dampner on the unit etc - just trying to be realistic.
would be handy for a campervan etc.
my pc's were all built for gaming so had to have good mem, graphics card, cpu hence I used towers and built my own.
genrenal rule of thumb computers are out of date within 6 months.

    Fancy putting it there. lol!

Look what I've found for lap-tops, although I guess a private sale would raise more compared a company buying them, but at least it's a guide.

Ha Ha Ha Ha One site only offering this service. You can tell from the prices offered.

Have a go and enter your computers spec. If it's as per original it will prompt you as per it's details.
