what are these for? Empty what are these for?

Post by lazydayz on Fri 03 Feb 2012, 5:50 pm

Hi, Ive got 2 pieces of plywood with hinged sides on them. They were in the kitchen unit but I have no idea where they go or even if I need them. Also came with a manual tap unit which i can't find a mounting point for. Any ideas? (have photos but no idea how to post them)
managed to put photos on later post.

Yes they look as though they fit each end of the cooker unit to give more surface

Hi mike. That's what I thought but there isn't enough room. The previous owners had never used it so no help there. I guess it's non standard then? Not a problem as I prefer to use a water carrier. More curiosity than anything.

Hi, after seeing the photos they are not bed ends Very Happy I think they fit on either side of the sink/ cooker unit as a 'work surface'

Theyre not home made shelves are they? Hook them over the top of a wall, and the brackets keep them horizontal.

I like this game. Got any more lol!!?

Push the short lengths of square section into the cooker unit hand holes.
They will lodge in, the flaps will drop and you have two end worktop projections?

I like Mr Itch's suggestion. what are these for? 2170595768

My first thought which would work on Dandy's which had only two cupboards high as opposed to three high, was, could they go one either end between the two units to make the cooker unit higher, and to also make an extra shelf underneath it? A bit like the contraption in Mr Itch's green un.

I'd like to throw my pennyworth in...

I agree that the two pieces are shelves.

If I've got it right, the lip on the flat side of the hinged unit will sit in the hand cut outs in the kitchen unit sides.

The hinged sides will then provide stability for the units

Not a bad idea! A lot easier then using hinges & stays fitted permanently to the kitchen.
