I dont mind as it was for the right money & all this work makes it feel yours.

I can never just use something i have to turn everything into a project Very Happy

My VW was perfectly useable as it was but it had to be diesel & then the list just grows & grows

    German Ebay is dangerous...

You can sort it out Matt, the bed board is easily replaced. The window is a shame but also fixable and anything else you do to it is probably just because you really enjoy doing things like this .............. no point in paying a high price for something pristine if your going to Pimp it anyway. Very Happy

Really looking forward to your pictures.

Im going to do a little here & there before we use it in June...Its dividing my time between the VW & Dandy now...

Dandy will make a good retro addition to the VW though as its an 83 & VW is 84

Ive not got problems with any rot...Just a few bleeding joints

Previous owner was very good to her with waxoyl

Im currently scraping old underseal off & re applying it with modern stuff...Powder coating all suspension components, poly bushes etc. etc.

Like you say its an on going project and when TDi conversion is finished its not because ill be fitting a fully rebuilt engine later in the year

The seams can be a pain, Mad It's excellent you've got no rot issues, so many have had a hard life and not the right care, we used to have a 68 bay before which had more rot than metal. affraid

Steering bushes are on our list, unfortunately probably for this year, we'll see what Mr MOT man says.

Sorry if I already know, lol, what's the rebuilt engine you are fitting later on?

It will be well smart when it's done, have you got an 'agreed valuation'?

I think we need an 80's Dandy as well. Laughing

The new TDi engine will be a fully rebuilt version of the one thats going in now...Im fitting an AHU TDi 90HP & Intercooler

Good strong engine as i used the golf it was in for a while (The golf thrived on abuse - see below) I will rebuild another AHU from scratch & use this with a few tweaks (Injector tips, turbo larger I/C) to get about 115-120hp & a good torque curve before considering remapping the ECU to cope with the T25's lines of a brick rather than the golf is was meant to be in

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Ive removed all of the old underseal looking for a problem & found one hole about the size of a 50p which ive cut out & joggled so it sits flush for a stealth repair

The old underseal had started to shrink after 27years so ive removed everything & will start again with some modern stuff which hopefully will give me another 27years of protection

Ill keep you updated on My Dandy/My VW Project

If your always into new projects and have a penchant for VW's have you seen [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I would have thought the application of a pressure washer would have changed things suitably?
I thought these days even bay shells were worth more than £500?
Just too many VW Camper entries for any enthusiast to see them all?

Worse have been done as mike said but you end up with more new metal than anything original

To be honest i would weigh that one in & cut my losses...Boat tops dont seem to be as popular as the rest

To be honest for the size of the hole & with it not been structural most people would of patched it with fibreglass matting or isopon P38 but I like solid steel...Now it's repaired properly it's forgotten about as it would of always been on the back of my mind...

Got to weld the diesel battery tray into the engine bay tomorrow on the same side & remove the whole of the panel pictured but on the opposite side so I can mount my intercooler

    The camper park

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The new designer outside RAF Cranwell...I am very happy with this and havnt even put it up yet (Looks dirty but it had a wash before been packed away)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Ive put my Discovery up tonight as i have a viewing tomorrow

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Originally when i got it home & saw the smashed window i lost all heart in it and left it

A few interested parties called tonight and wanted to view it so i put it up in the workshop tonight & instantly fell in love with it (Is that normal?)

Its not as bad as i make out im just picky...I forget how old things really are Smile

Looking at the Dandy outside Cranwell. The nose up profile.
    Reach for the Sky?
I feel your drawn towards the older Dandy, all those sepia photos.
One Dandy for the T25 one for the newer van?

The old Dandy has tugged at your heart strings, some people think were nuts but I think it's a normal reaction jocolor I think Emma will win though because her heart strings will be tugging along with that lovely designer. Laughing

Get ready to be upset when someone drives off with your discovery even though you have only had it a short time, the lad we got the orange dandy from couldn't believe how upset he was when he helped us get it out of his garden and hooked up to our car. Sad
