Water Pump - Advice Needed!
Still searching for a kitchen, seen quite a nice looking one on eBay from a Raclet Trailer tent that would fit nicely in the space. However it would need a water pump for the sink (assuming we get it of course) and being complete newbies to this aspect of Dandying we need advice about what we would need to get and how it fit it!

Re: Water Pump - Advice Needed!
You can get water pumps at most camping shops for around £30, ours runs of the leisure battery.

There's a Towsure and Go Outdoors locally so I'm sure we could get one, just not sure exactly what we should be looking for as I've had a quick look and there seems to be different sorts!

Re: Water Pump - Advice Needed!
We use a mechanical foot pump, we have a length of hose from the pump to a bottle of water outside, and another length from the pump to the tap. I did put a picture me the pump on Endecays Dandy thread.
We don't use it for drinking though, we have a colemans cooler inside for that.
Good luck in getting it sorted out.

Hose connections : To suit 10mm or 13mm
Voltage : 12 Volt DC
Rec'd fuse Size : 5A Auto
Weight : 150g
Head flow rate per minute at 0m : 11 litres (2.4gal)
Power consumption rate per minute at 0m : 2.8amps
Head flow rate per minute at 1m : 9.8 litres (2.2gal)
Power consumption rate per minute at 1m : 2.7amps
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
this is similar to what we have jayne and easy to set up either to 12v socket or battery

Re: Water Pump - Advice Needed!
Your choice of electric or manual pump may be affected by your use or non use of a leisure battery or 12v system that operates when or if you hook up.
i.e. it's no point having a pump if you don't have 12v electrics.
There were on some Dandys small battery boxes living under the sink that housed a battery specifically to power the pump.
While I know of these I haven't opened one up. I have no idea about what sort of battery(ies)they contain nor if these are available from retailers.

Kevin you may know the answer to this but i was told you could run a tap from the mains converter for a cool box or even a small battery charger,if so no 12 volt would be needed only mains, your thoughts please.

our delta water whale pump ran on 4 d batterys (the big ones) til we changed it for 12v off lesiure battery
but you could run off a coolbox type plug adaptor
the 240v to 12v step down transformer type to run off mains

I can see no reason why it can't be run from the mains converter, if mains are available and no leisure battery. We usually camp in the middle of a field with neither and a car that is 6V.

Re: Water Pump - Advice Needed!
We have a whale pump similar to the one Vicki has shown, it plugs into a socket like the ones used in cars for charging your phone or a cigarette lighter socket. The thing we use has 3 of these plug in type holes and is then connected to the leisure battery via a two pin plug, you can see where on the charger box in the picture, the crocodile clips then fit to the battery. We can run other stuff along side the pump if we wish. We're lucky in that we can run without EHU as long as we've remembered to charge the battery because we have a box that the leisure battery sits in with a built in charger that sits inside the front box of the dandy, it has a normal plug on it so if we have forgotten to charge the battery or it runs low and are on EHU we plug that in and off we go. We can run pump and the tv off the leisure battery.
I know it needs a wipe over but here it is anyway

It's intriguing when you write something and it can be interpreted in a completely different way than it was intended.
What I was trying to say was the pump can be run off:
1) A leisure battery
2) A specialised transformer, (zig type unit) a battery charger an off-take from a transformer from a cold box or whatever it is that you use to give you 12v from an EHU.
If you have any of the above and aren't just running 240v off your hook up.
3) If you have none of the above you can use a foot or hand pump alternatively some form of small battery boxes are available for powering the pump.
Now what I didn't say was that if your running an EHU and tapping of a small amperage power supply like a coldbox transformer you will demand more than the power available from the transformer. Having not done this myself I don't know if the fuse blows or you just get the coolbox slowing and lights dimming.
If taking power from this sort of supply a battery helps smooth the supply and also while taking surplus power during periods of lower consumption when just the coldbox is running then providing power when the pump is used.

A Lab Craft charger / power unit did you buy that new or did it come from an 80's caravan?
A friend has one in his old caravan but other than that I've not seen one in years.

I've just seen the pictures of Jayne's new cooker and sink unit on the fb group page and it's cracking ........ I think you should start a new thread Jayne in Dandy chat and show it off.

Re: Water Pump - Advice Needed!
We've decided for now to go with the Whale foot pump like the one Cazz has, as that seems adequate for what we need! More flea bay searching coming up I think.
