You think you have problems we had a 1.6 td with no turbo it managed a holiday in Northumberland but i dont think it was happy

Mike, Ouch. We've experienced lack of turbo a few years ago, it had desintigrated. Last month we had new injectors, wow what a difference, but it is still a golf engine in heavy body.

Do you still have yours?

No unfortunately not,i have had 3 in total the 1.6,a 1.8 but the best was a 2.1 fuel injected, a rocket on wheels

As previously mentioned I've been towning our 6 with a Focus 1.8, well now I've sorted out the diff on my Volvo we will be using that again. It's a proper tow car the old 940 estate it likes a drink though being an automatic but we don't mind.

Why has it cut the back of the picture off? I usually resize on photobucket but it takes an age on my dongle, so I tried on the reply button, what have I not done?

We have a Citroen Picasso 2.0 diesel, its a great car! You can take all the back seats out and its like a van, its so large you could sleep in the back! So......if the lads play up guess where we shall put em!!!!!

Hi Nick, it is a VW Type 3 'notchback' VW made three models of the Type 3, squareback - estate, notchback - saloon, fastback - with a sloping back, more sportier looking.

Our car was restored in 2000 by the previous owner to concourse condition using only original and NOS (new old stock) parts. We are very lucky to have a car like this, but that's a story in itself.

Yep, it has a flat four air cooled engine, of course in the rear giving a boot at the front and one above the engine at the rear. It makes people confused at the supermarket

This car still runs drum brakes all round and 6 volt, it is exactly as it left the factory in 1964, but it now has seat belts fitted. The underneath is as shiny as the top.

so is the chassis and engine basically the same as the beetle?It is a nice looking car i think i have seen the estate version in years gone by.

It is basically the same idea, but a bit different, they are more refined with better suspension - better engine etc, making it a superior drive, also there is more room, it's faster, but was expensive back in the day so they weren't as popuar. So of course today there are less about than the Beetle.

We changed our car this week from one big old barge to another, sold the 940 auto estate and bought a 1999 mercedes C200. To be honest fuel costs are not something I take into consideration when buying a car, and some nice luxury barges can be had for not a lot of money, hence a history (apart from the focus) of V8s, V6s and straight 6 engines.

just got a new car so still have to fit a towbar new towing car will be a seat altea XL previous to that a Vauxhall vectra 2.2dti

i should update our tow car its no longer a Colt Diesel but a 2008 Fabia 1.9 TDI estate,well although we need a towbar fitting 1ST

mine will eventually be a citroen C4 5door 1.6hdi

Super quick & 50mpg towing!

It's great at traffic lights seeing passengers jaws drop in the next lane as we accelerate faster than them while we're towing

Not tried ours yet, but Zafira 1.8 petrol, Semi auto, towing a Destiny. The power wont be a problem, but the semi auto gearbox, as mentioned on another thread, may be a nuisance. Fuel WITHOUT towing and driving like a fairy (If they ever drove) is 30-35mpg, so towing isn't going to economical.

I got rid of our zafira and bought the C4 as the running costs were killing me - mpg was mince, road taz was a fortune and cost to replace tyres was even worse.

glad i got the c4 cheaper to run and is a great wee car
