Another newbie dandy owner here. Have borrowed a mate's 70's dandy 4(?) A couple of times and just snapped up a 70's orange 5 with original awning cheap on ebay. Very pleased with it, quite a bit bigger than the 4 and with more of the kitchen intact.

Aiming to take at general camping and shows behind a 1960 landrover Smile

Not a stranger to camping, also own a camping-converted landrover ambulance and have been fabric-camping for nearly 30 years. Family now means more relaxed camping holidays in (retro) style & luxury.

Will get some photos of it in action soon, but it's ebay #251259289000 if anyone wants a look Smile

    Hello Mr Brain-Failure

That is what we are more used to I'd say it's a 41/2 with the flaps on the front for the awning,
I'd guess that you have the older door handle rather than the aluminium flap design used on SILVION'S 5.
We have quite a few classic Dandys I've got an old 70's Green Cazz and Wayne have a 60's Green. Phoenix rebuilt his Orange Dandy and Wingnut is in the process of ripping his Orange Dandy apart and morphing it with a Sankey Trailer.
Oh I'm so rude and forget people's names *"&£ has a Green with a Kath Kidson(?) interior and there is another Green in Chorley not sure if that is 60's or 70's. yours is 70's as it has a sloping side awning. unless of course the awning flaps were put on later.

    Thanks for the warm welcome!
4 1/2 sounds about right, I'm not up to speed on the terminology yet.
Kitchen unit appears home-made, but otherwise fairly original.

I'd love to see a dandy/sankey hybrid, we discussed that idea as it looks like a very simple way to make a heavyweight 4x4 camper. I think i'll keep this one as-is though!

First trip is booked for fathers day weekend - i can smell the bbq and hear the tilley lamp already Smile

I thought that one looked tidy when I saw the ad. That cracked bed board will glue with wood glue and not even show if you can clamp it in place while it dries.

What does the last but one pic show. Is it a tear. just read awning vents on side need repair. PVC glue?

I love the orange ones, they have so much charm and character.

Navver - i've not got the awning up yet, drive isn't big enough! I'm not expecting it to be a big problem, i've repaired landrover canvas hoods before Smile will post photos of what i find.

Oh Tilley Lamps, Tilley lamps, Tilley lamps, Tilley Lamps you have found a home. (Though there are lots of the better made Vapalux Lamps available cheaply at the moment.)

The Sankey conversion [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Phoenix's rebuild [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

No pressure on your mate just always interested what dandy owners are up to and we all love photos. Which unfortunately you can't post for 7 days.
