Cut in side of destiny Empty Cut in side of destiny

Post by manchestercamper Fri 17 May 2013, 8:40 am

    Hi
I was working on my Desiny and my drill slipped.
I was drilling hole for pot riveting brackets for extra cross member bars over bedroom compartments.
I have made a 1- 2 inch cut 2 sides of a square on the inner wall of the side. The dandy is winterised and has luckily not gone through so it is just the inner.
does anyone have any suggestions of the best fix for this. glue or what ever rather than just sticking a patch on it.
I would show you a photo of this but I have no idea how to do this on the post.

    Thanking you in advance.

Hi, pictures would help ..... if it was a slit type cut I'd say tenacious tape but it sounds like it could be more of a ragged edge type damage.

Across the top of the reply box you will see a row of icons
run your curser across until it displays host an image
click that and a box should open saying upload image
    click browse
find the picture on your computer
    double click the picture
it should then show the url next to browse
    click host it
you will then have 3 boxes
    thumbnail ignore this
image this is the one you want
    image url ignore this one
click the image one it should turn blue
then right click it and select copy
then paste this in your post
at the bottom of the box is upload click this
when the box changes back to the first box you can click the host an image icon again and it will close the box,or you can go through the process again to upload more images
if you want to click preview it will show your post with images
    then click send.

You can buy PVC repair kits. Special glue and patches. I wonder if you could cut a patch and put it on the inside by passing it through the slit, then gluing the inside to it. I have a PVC cushion which fits in the top of my sail to stop the boat turning turtle after a capsize. I patched that OK with one but it wasds a patch on the outside.

There are repair kits for inflatable boats (called RIBs Rigid Inflatable Boats). Again they are patches.

There are PVC welding solvents they use for joining plastic pipes. Never tried any of these though

I'd go with tenacious tape, it's clear and although it's never going to be totally invisible it would probably be the best option to stop it getting any worse, not as bad as I thought it may be Very Happy

Another vote for tenacious tape here.

Anything else just isn't a patch on it Laughing

Ok ... I'll get me coat

It would be a bit fiddly, but if you could get the tenacious tape inside the cut with the sticky side facing outward you wouldn't see any tape at all.
you would have to peel the backing off the tape after you had put the tape behind the cut. Pete.
