I kept watching:shock:  on,- off,- then on again kept saying NO! going to Paris but she came back and came up on searches for fabric   must have pressed the wrong button but that was it I needed to call

so with one phone call the deal was made and trip to Paris back on Mon --Thurs off to Birmingham to pick her up
I took two spare wheals with me as not to sure how old the tyres were and a light board had a great drive there picked her up and towed her home stopped for a cuppa checked the hubs to feel how hot they were all ok but one of the tyres didn't look very good

so with a quick wheel change off we went got home safely tucked her up in bed and  couldn't wait for the next day to check her out so hear she is

There were early blue Dandys in the late 60's stroke early seventies whether blue went back this far?
Ian was supposedly wanting old photographs of Dandys and photographs of old Dandys. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] So you could trade him some photos for information. I'd phone the emails seem not to be answered.
I know Ian said about the earliest Dandys being made out of angle iron that is why the wooden panels are framed. I'd pointed out the original ad to him incase he wanted it for a promotional piece. He was lost as to what the outside poles were have you worked this out yet?

I have been comparing Phoenix rebuild to Betty ( that's her name) ok what I have noticed is that Betty does not have the metal arms that support the sides

she only has 3 poles that fits from wall to door

see phoenix has settee use but Betty has bed head and foot boards

  yep we did the outside poles as seen in photo

it seems the bed arms hold the bed sides up until the walls are stabilized with external pole and internal poles are put in then they are released to allow the bed sides to come down

I wonder if the age is the last part of the number of the Bradley hitch stamped /67

We are so pleased you went and got this little beauty. We had been watching it and toying with it. If it had been this side of the country we would have probably gone and got it. It must be one of the first ones.

We notice there are some bits the same as Phoenix. The handles on the bed bases, the round feet welded on the bed legs. The metal angles on the corners of the bed bases.

The wood work doesn't look too bad, will it clean up do you think?

thanks it caused great anxiety when she disappeared from the site and great joy she was back we here are having doubts as to the pvc whether it has been replaced the feel of the pvc is hard in comparison to the other girls their pvc is soft to touch as this one is harder not as pliable and doesn't look fifty years old and the colour seems wrong for that era to bright ???? any thoughts on that

I may be dandy-less soon caz but this restoration Ive got to see. Pete

Our original cover had gone hard and unpliable. As far as brightness Phoenix we think is mid seventies and her sides are still quite bright. They do have a different feel to Dylan's, they are not quite as pliable. They have a dimpled texture on the inside like we can see in your picture of Betty's.

If you look at the pictures that you put on of Phoenix's and Betty's ends when up, there are 2 metal studs at the ends of the seam on the top where the PVC goes over the top bar. They both have these.

Mrs P also says the inside of your kitchen unit is blue, which might have been for colour co ordination!!

    I see the studs and yep think the colour co-ordination is the clincher so blue she was and is great the up side is her wood is in very good nick just seams to need a bubble bath ...the main work seems to be the metal work so she is at the moment soaking in bath of oil hoping to wire brush the rust off then sort new bed sponge did not come with but with the state of the curtains ( rotting away) its a good thing and hope to fabricate an awning for her but that's the future

Just had another look at your pics Caz. Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs but we think in your fourth one the travel cover is the wrong way round. The deep bit should be at the hitch end.

If the curtains are that rotten, perhaps they are original too.  

Looking at the brackets over the door, they are similar to ours but closer together. May be a she had a sun canopy like ours originally.

 yep your right about the cover we turned it around after we packed her back up i received her like that and yes didn't look inside just turned up hitched her up and towed her away

I was dying to route around their garage just in case they missed something but for the first time I wasn't that cheeky tired after Paris

That number plate KAC 4D is 1966 so was probably a nearly new car then.

The blue toilet tent is a clue to the colour as well. We had a loo bucket and blue toilet tent just like that in the sixties when we were kids.

When I was an apprentice a hammer was known as a "Manchester screwdriver" but I never found out why.

They were Birmingham screwdrivers down here. Guess who went to the stores and asked for a long weight.

They are also known as the Norfolk screwdriver for probably the same reason. 

When Mrs P and I first got together I once asked her to pass me the hammerfer, she said what's a hammerfer to which I replied "fer knocking the ******* nail in"

While you were there what did you reckon to the tartan paint?

Ha ha, they didn't stock Tartan paint but they did have trichloroperazine (I think that was it Trico for short). They used to send us to get some in a plastic cup.

I plan is to strip her down to the bear bones and that way I will see how she is put together so when working on Betty have a more understanding of what I can do with out compromising her
have loads of photo's but have put my sd card adapter in a safe place but not got a clue were it is  

the great thing is i found the roof to the awning in the storage box     but spotted a problem with marrying the awning to Betty   Betty does not have the poppers on the front so do I swap the fronts ???
problem is that Miss Molly has a few holes    need my photos to show you
