Hi all not been on here for a while Very Happy

I joined last year as I was interested in buying a Dandy but sadly my bank account failed me lol but will hopefully be in the position to buy now.
I'm looking for a Destiny as there's 6 of us, there doesn't seem to be many about at all so could you let me know if you see any for sale?
I notice Riva have a couple coming into stock, could someone tell me how much the newer ones tend to go for.

It would be much appreciated Smile

Do you mean the dark blue Riva ones?

Private sales seem to average around the £4,500 mark.

Keep an eye on the sales thread here - nothing appears to escape the notice of the eagle eyed members who manage that.

It's where we met our 'Destiny', that we're looking forward to our first weekend away in at Easter.

Good luck in your search - the right one will come along.

    Hiya Julie

Peridot is right private sale Dark Blue Destinys tend to go for between £4,000 - £5000. Riva Sales sell them for around the £6500 mark but you do get a warranty from Ian and you know they have been well serviced. It just depends on your budget, I'd say don't ignore the light blue Destinys as Dandys last forever and you can get some that are 15+ years old and are in brilliant condition, our Designer Olivia is like that made in 1995 but she's in tip top condition.

To be honest, the only extra you get for 5K instead of 2K, is a toilet and a more modern appearance.

The light blues are 2 foot shorter, weigh a quarter of a ton less and I think have a nicer internal layout especially for a large family.

The new ones only have one double bed which converts into a settee alongside the dining area. The light blues have a double bed which converts into a settee at the other end as well giving a seperate sitting area perhaps for someone who wants to sit and read. The new ones only have a double bed at that end.

Laughing Laughing Haha Mike that made me laugh

I get what you're saying, the lighter weight would be a bonus as I didn't get my liscence till 2003 so its more likely to fall within
the 3500kg limit before having to take the extra test.
I'm not really bothered about the loo either so the lighter blue could be a definate possibility Very Happy

I've been in both lighter and darker blue Destinies and for me it's got to be the lighter blue any day of the week, not just for the price but because as has been mentioned, they're more versatile inside and seem less cramped. I prefer the pvc that was used on them rather than the stuff used for dark blue ones too.

tell him that it would buy a 3D 50 inch telly and that you'd be happy to get him one after you've found your Dandy .... that'll work lol!

If you have to get him one it'll only cost a few hundred and your still quids in and camping

And the light blues can have an underfloor gas heater which most seem to rave about. By the time the dark blues came out, these were discontinued so heating is the propex fan assisted if its fitted. It was an optional extra.

When looking at the prices, many of the luxuries, like heater, awning, sun canopy, underbed skirts etc were extras and will make the 2nd hand dandy more valuable now.

I don't disagree with anything said above but for Mrs Peridot the loo was non-negotiable Evil or Very Mad

Despite the fact that the longer unit doesn't actually fit in our garage and required a "modification" (a.k.a. a bloody great hole) in the door.

Mind you, the look of joy on her face when she discovered it had an electric flush made it all worthwhile Laughing

Yep, the modification is not quite complete yet.

Anyone know where I can get a large mixing bowl, preferably metal, that's 7" (180 mm) deep?

I think this will be the neatest way of covering the hole and if I paint it the same colour as the door, it won't look too Heath Robinson.

A cake tin may do it, you can get reasonably deep tins

Have a look at the old type metal/enamel bread bins too like the style below, may be a bit big but would be deep enough Very Happy

I have something similar I could use but I was hoping to leave it looking a bit more subtle Smile

A bowl shape would be ideal with a round tin a close second. A wooden salad bowl might also be an option as I'll be painting it for protection.

Peridot, I have an electric flush loo. There is a small pipe in the top of the outside casette compartment. It has a plug in the end which you must remove and hold the pipe down to drain the flushing system completely. If you don't, the pump will freeze and be damaged, like mine was. The pipe unclips then hangs down.

Lol Peridot can't believe you've made a whole in your garage door to fit it in Shocked

I take it you have the dark blue one then? I'm not really bothered about the loo although trapsing across a field in the night to go the loo is a pain,
we were just going to have a bog standard trailer tent. Its the sleeping on the floor my other half isn't keen on even though its on an airbed Neutral
I like the idea of a Dandy, I've been to see a few Peninnes but the owners have all mentioned about them rotting and they are'nt even that old.

Thanks for that tip navver - it's not something I was aware of.

Yes it's the dark blue one julie. We had set out heart on it before realising that it wouldn't quite fit so it was a case of making it fit Smile

We've only had one night in in when we picked it up so about to get it out and head off towards Tenby for the weekend.
