Roof Hoops

When opening the first bed base, quite often the wind catches the roof and the roof hoop falls backwards, and its a right pain to put it back up again.
Especially as i have to put the dandy up on my own.
So today i bought some inner tent clips and clipped t em on to the roof hoop, tied string to the slot and put a loop on the other end and then looped onto a button
I haven't got the length of string right yet but it did stop the hoop falling back.

I have my strings tied under the bed so when opened up It pulls the roof up and the weight of the roof on it keeps it up right I will get photos up to show what i am saying

Two way strings help with erection and folding away.

Cracking idea, simple and easy to do ....... the wind is so annoying when putting up or packing away, we'll put some on ours too

Yes it worked, but need to increase the length of string and find a suitable anchor point each side.
I first tried the clips on the side of the hoop but they slid down.
If the weathers ok i will have another play today. Pete

Couldn't they be tied on where the others are or would this cause problems with tangling ?

We put two in the same place on the hoop one to go back and one to go forward then use the buttons on the side but ours is a six so it may be different

Hi Helen, I hooked the string onto a side button because the other bed board is still folded, so if you hooked the string on the button on the bed board it probably wouldn't stay on.
Also looking to attach the loose end of the roof somewhere temporarily just while erecting the bed boards in case of strong wind. Pete

Mike I can't actually follow what you are saying on both comments. Either I'm a numpty or anyone else with difficulties reading this is too polite. My fault either way.

FW Though I can't say I have never had the hoop fall flat towards the bed it is a very rare occasion. It is all a lot easier if the strings to the under bed buttons are somewhat longer. So that the U pole rests just inches off the clips on the front and back wall. The angle from bed end to hoop hinge to hoop end is then obtuse and tends to hold better.The weight of the roof acting downwards then acts to force the angle further open locking the U pole in position.
The angle on yours is so close to 90 ⁰ you only need the slightest upset and it will collapse.
Try with longer U pole to bed button strings.

even with a better angle toward the door, when the wind catches the roof where it is attached to the Dandy at the back it pushes everything back, less likely if there are two of you and one can hold the roof end that isn't attached but difficult if your on your own.
Then again its very windy where i live.
