Underfloor gas heater

Does anyone have service sheets for the underfloor gas heaters ?

If you have a mini compressor ....... take the viewing hole nut off and just blow through with the compressor. This is how we were told to do it and I believe it's how Riva do it. The rush of air knocks any deposits off the heating system.

If you look at the linked article below you will see a diagram showing how the heater is flued.
Things all depend on your starting point. If the heater was burning with an orange flame that would be a sign that the air intake was restricted and a greater depth of activity in solving this would be required.
Because there are no service sheets that we know of we can't say you are directed to do x,y or z. As the burner is in an inaccessible place you can't even view the burner bar unless you were to acquire a boroscope.
So the servicing we know of is to use an air line to blow off any dust from the burner by way of the sight glass. Helen had the cleaning extended because debri was deposited inside. You could perhaps take a hint from this and use a tube on a vacuum to suck out any dust after removing the flue. There is a screw securing the flue. After the screw is removed the flue slides off.

The standard disclaimer on any piece such as this is to use a Gas Safe (Formerly Corgi) engineer. While it would not be legal to carry this work out on your fire or boiler at home. (Actually it might be as the work does not involve the coupling or uncoupling of a gas fitting) Any work on your Dandy is legal as it contains mobile appliances and fittings. Also finding a registered engineer might be an issue. Though caravan dealers will service gas appliances Gas Safe engineers are limited to specific devices and types of gas systems. So you would need an engineer who could work on heaters and work on LPG systems. Even if the heater was an exact facsimile of a mains gas appliance an engineer who could work on the mains appliance would not be registered to work on the Riviera heater.

We have an old style vacuum cleaner of the type that could both suck and blow. Have taken viewing window off and given it a good suck and a blow. Seems better now but have not used it for any length of time just to make sure it lit and adjusted with the control. When we were away last week turning it up to full didn,t appear to make much difference to the flame but it does seem to now. As we were using butane I also wonder if the temperature was approaching the point where the gas does not vapourise that well. Time will tell but thank you all for your help. It was ineresting to read how the appliance should be lit as we had no instructions and only found out by trial and error that it has to be lit on the low setting.

Should we need to be using heaters at this time of the year? Crazy weather.

I'm ging away on saturday in so called flaming june and i went and bought a heater.

If it's cold enough to need a heater it's cold enough for propane.

Even at home we have the heating on some days, if we were out with the Dandy we would without doubt be using the heater overnight ....... oh where have those balmy evenings gone where you could sit out with just a T-shirt on .... the minute the sun goes down it's freezing we haven't done that for a couple of years now

perhaps I was just drinking more wine then so didn't feel the cold the same
