Brian your user name indicates a similar interest to me when i get chance that is,there is a question mark over the quality of the dark blue models which came after the pale blue, cant answer it myself as mine is a 1986 dandy 6,yes riva and dandy are the same company.

Hi Brian and Sue, if you need any help or advice on finding the right Dandy for you then you've come to the right place. Vicki or Nick will be able to tell you more about the later models as they have one and also had a pale blue and white before that.

Carolyn which dandy is a good question, how many will be using it,what to you see as your camping season and most of all your budget, for various reasons mine isnt winterised but they are the best if like me you want to camp all year.
I have reservations with ebay but after saying that there are loads of happy buyers who get there's there also some unhappy ones, private sales are the best chance to inspect and talk about price.

Hi Brian & Sue and Carolyn, to the forum.
We bought our Dandy on ebay, but we did view it first and decided on our maximum bid and kept our fingers crossed. Regarding which one to choose, as Mike says, how many are camping, how often are you planning on using it, what is your budget. It's a good idea to have a look at a few to help decide on style, size etc. Good luck in your searches.

Re: new member
Hi - There are 5 of us and the children are still fairly young ie. 9, 8 and 6. We've camped for years in tents and tourers but we've decided that a Dandy ticks all our boxes nicely. We would use it probably April - October but wouldn't rule out the rest of the year. We'd like to get as much use of it as we can...and ...hopefully hang on to it long enough that the children would use it. We're not after anything fancy or too pricey - an awning is a must - don't reckon we'd last a night without one:@ and we're prepared to travel a reasonable distance. I see there's a Riva/Dandy place in Wigan...do you know anything about it?
Thanks
Carolyn

Re: new member
Carolyn, I would say go for a 6 with awning, you will have plenty of space for all 5 of you
Riva doe's have Dandy's for sale but you have to remember Ian sells with a warranty and has to get them ready for sale so the prices can be higher than going for a private sale. Dandy's were only made in Wigan, it changed to Riva/Dandy but they stopped making Dandy's and now sell them and do repairs and servicing. People who have work done by Ian are very very happy with the service they receive.
