Plasma's don't need the running in they used to as they have a pixel orbiter feature to make retention/burn impossible, but i am old fashioned so run our new one in THX mode which is pretty dark for a month, the picture gets much better with age.
I remember years ago when there was all this controversy about plasma's going dull very quickly but it was total nonsense,my 1st Panasonic i bought in 2003 had a half life of approx 20000hrs which is still 10years of watching TV 6hrs a day,the latest ones have 100000hr half life.
It takes ages of tweaking to get plasma to how you like it,i have it set up perfectly for watching SKY but for Blu Ray,Gaming and DVDs i will just use THX setting as a lot of games and films are now THX certified.
I like they way every input can be custom tuned modern technology i love it Very Happy

Although give me an old analogue LINN LP12 Turntable over any modern Digital format

We used the 2D to 3D conversion and although you can alter the depth there is nothing like true 3D, you want swords then the 3 muskateers is good but I like the imax 3D films you can get off ebay for a few pounds, they may be documentary type by the effects are stunning, we got under the sea, the hubble space station one and an african one and they really do give you 3D at it's best.

Just put in Imax 3D in the search bar on ebay, ours cost less than £5 each.

Just watched stargate ark of truth standard dvd upscaled and converted by the tv to 3d,i cranked the conversion right up and have to say it was realy good obviously doesn't match the best of 3d but far better than watching it in 2d.Been looking at those films but i have a feeling i couldn't fill the screen with them and i dont have nicks faith in plasma so i dont want black bars top and bottom yet.

As i like the conversion as a secondary thing think i may be scouring the second hand dvd outlets for BBC boxed sets like the blue planet ect would prefer 3d but blu ray or even normal would give a better viewing experiance.

We have a full set called planet Earth, it was around £20 from Morrisons Mike and is absolutely beautiful when you convert it from 2D to 3D, we cranked up the setting and watched in amazement. Very Happy

i'm glad i'm not the only one disappointed in Avatar, wasn't at all what I was led to believe in the trailers

recently watched the men who stare at goats as the trailer made it look great, wasn't that impressed with the full film, really annoys me when they hype up a film and you have more fun watching the trailer than the film

We enjoyed Harry Potter & the deathly hallows in 3D but what gets me is why you buy a film and get so many different formats of it in one box, we got four in this one. Perhaps they should allow you to just buy the one that you want and cut the prices.

We just bought part one and it was the same they must be daft because if your not interested in keeping it complete you could give the parts away you dont want losing them sales.

We have Avatar in 3D and I didn't want to watch it, not my sort of film but it was great, we also watched the polar express and Narnia and thoroughly enjoyed them, I think the 3D gives them more interest and a new dimension lol!
