The Dandy bug has struck again!!!!

Phoenix now has a larger sibling in the shape of a 6 berth. bounce bounce bounce We blame Mike and Cazz for showing us how much more room there is in their 6 and 5 respectively while at the Christmas meet. Very Happy

Phoenix, why are you looking at instructions for a 6, you have a 4 and know how to do it. Is poor Phoenix taking a back seat? lol!

No Phoenix won't be taking a back seat, she's our baby. lol! She will still come out for short stays and meets. We thought we would go for this 6 for longer breaks as there is more room for us and the dogs. It also has a full awning.

It needs a bit of tidying but not as much work as Phoenix's rebuild, Thank God.

    Thats the one Mr Itch.

There is a bit of a story to it though. The seller said he had had it 2 years and his kids had out grown camping holidays!!!! The strange bit is some of the pics he put on the second time he listed it on fleabay (he sold it 2 weeks ago but relisted it) were of the same one that was sold by someone else 2 months ago.

We know this because we thought about it then, but had more important things to think about. It was when Mrs P was in hospital.

Watching him and his wife trying to put it up was like watching an old Laurel and Hardy film. They didn't put the bed legs down and it kept "listing a bit" lol! Watching them try to pull the roof over we had to turn away and dare not look at one another!!!

The long and the short of it is we ended up with the one we liked for less than he gave for it and travelled 25 miles less than if we had bought it 2 months ago. bounce bounce bounce

We have had a play with her this afternoon and put her up awning as well. All went well.

Right you guys with 6's. When we put Phoenix down we pull the roof out and fold it over the top of the bed bases covering everything up. With the 6's do you do the same or do you fold the roof in under the bed bases as you go as in the link below?

We put ours on the top, it stops the beds making a hole in the roof inadvertently, as the beds jump around in transit...

Oh and welcome to the 6 gang, its an elite gang - only cool people need apply! ;-)

ahhhhhh now I know mines not a 6 but we spent the first 6 years folding the roof in and we fixed it at the loose end with cable ties to stop it coming off and found it a lot easier to pack it away, it didn't sit flat but we have more marks from folding it on top and our side window has marked because of the bed frames it sits on when folded correctly ...... we now pack it with towels to stop this but are seriously thinking of going back to folding the roof in because we have marks even though we pack with towels that we never got before. We also never got a dirty ceiling because it never hit the floor and there was no risk of damage from dragging on the bed legs either. What a Face

Very nice, Phoenix would fit inside, it was clearly meant to be judging the the story. Guess What!!!! 1710857839

We wouldn't be cool with a 6, the campervan would never make it up any hills, she struggles even without a trailer. Guess What!!!! 2829330259 lol!

Perhaps we need a roof storage thread with peoples thoughts and ideas. I don't think there is a right or wrong way, it's a matter of preference.

We have tried both ways, and also prefer to also fold it in, as Helen said it's easier to do, quicker to do, it doesn't trail on the floor, doesn't get caught on the bed legs, the dog can't lay on it and where the roof attaches on ours there are some very sharp original hooks where the roof hooks to, we are always afraid the roof will catch on these, the newer buttons are much safer.

We did wonder if the roof would get squashed or caught when folded inside, but we watch it carefully when folding and unfolding, and so far there hasn't been any sign of possible snagging. Also we now have a storage area on top for the awning poles and things.

flower the last thing is the roof and I pleat it over in a way that come to open her I have the loops ready to clip on the bed ends ready for erection but will admit i folded her down in good weather so took the roof off to one side then place the roof on top the awning and poles then slot in the middle were the beds don't meet then the trailer cover on top flower

hey we are all Dandy campers how cool is that Cool
