My mum always put our decorations up on the 6th of December because it was my grans Birthday and became a tradition but when should you put them up, according to history they used to go up on Christmas Eve as it was thought unlucky to bring evergreens into the house before then. We tend to go for the first weekend in December but I'm sure I heard there was a particular day they should go up and not before. I've also just read that it's unlucky to leave them up after the 5th of January when I thought it was the 6th

Re: Christmas decorations
Hi, the 12th Dec, is supposed to be the correct date for decs, up 12 days before Eve of Christmas, down 12 days after, 6th jan, which is the Epiphany, which is when the 3 kings( the Magi) were actually have been said to arrive to see the new born King.

Re: Christmas decorations
Thank you,
I'll probably do something this weekend with them
I thought we we're organised this year but was lulled into a false sense of security, you think you've done all the main bits and then you sit back and relax ....... all the bits you didn't do get forgotten and then it's on top of you. It's our anniversary tomorrow though and Johns a Bah Humbug when it comes to putting lights up in the cold so they may have to wait until Sunday

Re: Christmas decorations
Hope for John's sake that you have finished all your decorations and will not be too inspired by this Helen.
