??? Have I missed the joke? How can you know what the first one tastes like? It needs the month or 6 weeks soak to moisten and develop, doesn't it?

The fruit had been soaked in brandy for 12 hours prior to cooking so although not mature we ate it and it did taste lovely, in fact the last piece is in Johns packed lunch today.

The latest cake needed the space while it matures and is fed with brandy ...... nothing for it but to eat the smaller one.

I tell a lie John has left some for me for after my tea bless him

Back home again from New York yesterday AM, the car started first time after being in jetpark 3 for a week not that I expected anything less but you always have a niggling little doubt at times like that but at £25 for the week its a lot cheaper than a taxi both ways.
Everything went to plan as far as the wedding was concerned, the weather co-operated and it didn't snow until the next day, lots of and and more Stayed in the hotel the next day but it was snowing

Sandra has just fed the cakes (3), we usually get through about one and a half bottles before I get to drink the rest

Fed mine this morning Jake, already through 3/4 of the first bottle The fruit did soak up around half a bottle though

Currently making sugar paste holly leaves as I plan to have a lot it could take a while as I'm individually painting them all. I'll do a batch every few days then start on the other stuff as it gets monotonous. We're going two tier this year

Oh I love snow and I had lots of it on our wedding day

thought I'd put my recipe for my Christmas cake
1 or 2 High quality Rum
1 cup Butter
1 cup Sugar
2 Large eggs
1 cup Dried Fruit
1 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Tsp Baking Soda
1 Tsp lemon juice
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts

Before you start, sample the Rum to check its quality. " Good isn't it?". Now go ahead and select a large mixing bowl, measuring cup, etc. Check the rum again- it must be just right. Be sure the rum is of the highest quality - pour 1 (one) level cup of rum into a glass and drink it. Repeat. using an electric mixer, beat the eggs into a large fluffy bowl, add one seaspoon of tuger and beat again. meanwhile, Add the tow (2) arge leggs, 2 cups of fried druit and beat again. Sift 1/2 pint of lemon Juice. Fold in chopped butter and melted nuts. Add one sablespoon of brown tuger, or whatever colour you can find. Mix well. Grease aven and turn cake pan to 350 gredees. Now pour the whole mess into the oven. Perhaps it would be better to forget the coven and the reke. Just check the Rum again and go to Bed!!!!!

We're back from a classic Dandy camp near Oxford for the cars photo shoot, it was postponed from two weeks ago and also changed venue.

The weather was truly awful, wet, cold and windy, but despite that the day was fab and we had a great time.

Mrs P has had good news today.
She saw her consultant and got the all clear!

thanks mike, interest picked up after a while of no interest but quite pleased that he went for asking price and quite quickly

yes i sold him partly as i was hoping to move and wouldn't have storage space but partly cos not used him much this year and he needed a few bits doing and i don't have the space to work on him.

will absolutely get a dandy again though

there was another guy who wanted to come and look today if i hadn't made a sale yesterday so i advised him to join this forum and get the great help finding a dandy

I see things change when I turn my back for 5 mins Congrats to Mr Itch, and Mr and Mrs P.

Old dog is still ticking he is doing very well on his daily steroids, he is still up to his usual tricks and also learning some new ones, he is a wonder dog.
