Dandy Tool Kit Empty Dandy Tool Kit

Post by Helen Sun 19 Jun 2011, 9:08 pm

We always take a few things with us that we may need

We take a small tool kit with spanners and screwdrivers also a small pipe wrench just in case the legs wont unscrew. Tenacious tape just in case of any mis-haps. We should take the pop rivet gun but as yet have always forgotten to.

We also put a small scissor Jack just under the Dandy cover where the Water Buts and awning go. That way we can always find it if we did ever have a puncture on route without having to empty the entire contents of the car to get to it. Shocked

Bumping this thread for new members and to see if anyone has any tools they find useful with the Dandy.

Something I forgot to mention was duct tape, it comes in very handy at times. In really windy weather we have used it to stop draughts in the awning. You do have to get any sticky residue off after but at the time we don't care so long as we are warm.

We carry spare everything ............ guy ropes (use them for all sorts including the windbreaks) bungees of all different sizes - also multi purpose but it has got to the stage where it would be nice to have one small kit with handy bits. We need to condense stuff.

Forgot to mention we always have a selection of cable ties in the Dandy, all colours and sizes. I use them to put my fairy lights around the awning but thought I would mention that when one of Laura's awning poles came away from it's fixed bracket that sits over the edge of the Dandy we managed to make do for the week by using a couple of strong cable ties to hold it until we could get back home and rivet it back on. I suppose if you want to use the wooden dowel method of curtain hanging you could always use them to hang the dowel from the awning frame too.

They are handy to have with you. Very Happy
