Re: Green Dandy
Sounds like yours is a 4 where Cazz has a 5, my dads orange one has no windows at the front either.

Re: Green Dandy
Green 4 no windows.
Do you have the early Dandy with the straight side awning or the slightly later one with the sloped sided awning.
Assuming the awning and flaps were not a later addition.
If every odd dandy was a reject I think they probably made almost as many rejects as first class product.

Re: Green Dandy
Its a lot easier than it looks
Across the top of the reply box you will see a row of icons
run your curser across until it displays host an image
click that and a box should open saying upload image
click browse
find the picture on your computer
double click the picture
it should then show the url next to browse
click host it
you will then have 3 boxes
thumbnail ignore this
image this is the one you want
image url ignore this one
click the image one it should turn blue
then right click it and select copy
then paste this in your post
at the bottom of the box is upload click this
when the box changes back to the first box you can click the host an image icon again and it will close the box,or you can go through the process again to upload more images
if you want to click preview it will show your post with images
then click send.

Re: Green Dandy
I remember you now it was bought from eBay and trimmed in a Kath Kidston style.

You were having issues putting it up if I remember how did you get on?
The forum works two ways we are happy to help but what about you? How are you getting on with a 40 year old Dandy? Problems, issues joys, as folding campers tend not to live beyond 15 years or twenty at a max people wonder about 40 year old Dandys. What have your experiences been?

Re: Green Dandy
We are getting better at putting her up, still not fully mastered it yet, we think that the people we bought her off had completely stripped her down and hadnt put her back together properly, the strings were wrong and it didnt seem right but we have re done the strings and it is getting easier. All in all for her age she is great, who ever had her before must have looked after her, the green sides are like new as is the awning, she seems really solid and we havent come across any problems with her. We had a new door made for her last week as the other was feeling a bit soft on the bottom half and it was slightly warped. I would prefer her to look more original as Mike said but she has been painted and dont think its worth stripping her back, she does look nice though!

As she has a sloped sided awning I'm going for 70's (early) not 60's

Re: Green Dandy
she is gorgeous and not only that what fun and relaxing holls you will have in her ,your pride will swell as she will be admired by many campers as they pass by, stop and look .....I will admit I think the painting the interior helps lighten her up as lack of windows the wood effect( original ) would be dark inside

Re: Green Dandy
Thanks, I think its nice to breath new life into them, you cant take away the fact that she is so old with her still having the orginal green/white covering and that is in great condition, as is the awning, I would have preferred her to be more original but the dark wood is dark as you say, the hardest part is trying to convince fellow campers who dont know about dandys that she is over 40 years old! I love buying all the old vintage things for her too, its my wedding annversary today and my hubs has bought me a lovely 1960/70's picnic set for her and some 1970's flowery camping chairs, he puts up with the girlyness!!

Happy Wedding Anniversary, totally agree with everything you said, I'm normally not that keen on the early Dandys as I don't like the dark wood but I really love the way Betty has been done out and getting more accessories to fit in with her period is a brilliant idea, good on your husband for going along with it. .

Re: Green Dandy
Happy Anniversary
There's so many nice things about at the moment and reasonably priced too, the Range tend to have some particularly nice things that would fit in with what you've already got in Betty .... my daughter got a Welcome bunting in pale pinks/greens/blues that had been reduced

Hi, I am still around, just not as much as I'd like to be, but I am working on that.
Windows, I think our windows were added in the eighties because - wait for it - the little PVC tie things are the 80's beigh colour PVC.
