Helloooo to the forum
Just about to purchase my first dandy 6 of a friend, very much looking forward to customising it and some merry experiences away in it.

Re: Helloooo to the forum
Best of luck.
The 6 might well be a bit nose up on the Land Rover. My car is old enough not to need a type approved tow bar. Do landrovers also escape from this as they are lumped in with commercials?
If so a drop plate may help.
It might be a bit extreme but Wingnut is the midst of a project on a Dandy being introduced to a Sankey Trailer.
Do have a look. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Any details about or photos of the 6?

Pics to follow as soon as I formally take ownership, hopefully this weekend. It's a brown 6 so I'm guessing it's an 80's one. Had a quick inspection of it on sat and interior has already been re-opolstered with modern fabrics, carpet and lino under table. No wardrobe and missing one kitchen unit which I hope to fabricate to accommodate a 12v fridge. Externally it looks a bit tatty at the mo, cover has seen better days so I will prob usean altered tarp for this year while iI spend money on more important bits. One corner has a small split and its missing a drop leg, so first jobs are going to be use some aluminium angle on all 4 corners and get some box section mild steel for the drop leg.
As for towing the disco is fitted with a multi level tow ball, drop plate has 5 positions.
Hopefully be fully operational by mid June and a few trial camps before I do some music festivals in it in the summer.
Be good to meet some of you guys to exchange ideas at some point in the future too.

Re: Helloooo to the forum
Hi Kev, how do you intend to fit a fridge into the kitchen unit. The fold height is only a foot. I'm assuming it's not a high side.

Re: Helloooo to the forum
Was contemplating using 2 sections, only pie in the sky at the moment, the fridge won't be a permanent mount, removable for transport/folding down.
Has the base locker but needs tidying so was going to look at maybe shortening it and making a mid locker the same width, hopefully leaving enough space for my 12v fridge

Not done a good festival in a good few years. Have they gone all posh and got EHUs available? If not three way is the way to go for the fridge. Bulky but you do have a Land Rover to stuff it into?

Re: Helloooo to the forum
I recommend a 3 way fridge, nothing quite like ice cold beer or in my case, wine, cider and beer when your sat in an open field on a scorching day ...... memories, quite a while since we had the scorching day but we can always guarantee a cold beer even without EHU

I quite fancy the green man myself, we do a lovely little family orientated one in shropshire in aug, reasonably cheap and you get 5 days camping before thrown in. Its quite a small one thats been going for 13 years now and theres a big group of us who go including another dandy owner
This was last year

Re: Helloooo to the forum
I guess that's Farmer Phil's ?
I've heard good things about it from others - must give it a try sometime.
Judging by the sun-scorched ground, I can tell that photograph wasn't taken last year

You guessed right, its an amazing festival people dont like to broadcast it as its a small and intends to stay small festival
The sun scorched grass was indeed last year, we had amazing weather till the sunday combined with meteor storms to view at night and they allow camp fires, so far its the best festival ive ever been too, plus the guy selling ice cream is amazing hehe. (best festival for cost/feeling/line-up/variety/price of stuff there)
Hope to see you there some time, amazing line up this year too

Re: Helloooo to the forum
Wow, you were lucky with the weather then. Last year's Green Man in mid-August was a mud bath.
Still the best four days of my year though (well five actually as it took until late Monday by the time we were towed out of the mire)
Enjoy yourself this year - festivals are even more fun in a Dandy
