Propane also burns hotter, so you can cook your bacon quicker in the morning Smile

We have both too Cazz but our propane bottle is rather large and doesn't go in the front box so we use 4.5kg butane over the warmer weather and only bring the big boy out over winter. Make sure you have regulators for both types of bottle and you can use both like we do.

a 3.9KG Propane bottle is the same size as a 4.5kg butane. When we got our dandy it had 2x 2.7kg Campingaz bottles in the front locker. We used up the gas then sold the empty bottles and regulator for £20 on ebay, campingaz is great if your touring about on the continent as its available everywhere but its expensive.I believe campingaz is 80% butane 20% propane so it work at lower temperature than butane alone.
Since we camp all year round i would only use Propane,i think one burns cleaner than the other not sure if its propane or butane though.

I never thought of emptying the large propane bottle and flogging it on, I did give away two butane bottles the same size as the propane one I have and both had plenty of gas in them Rolling Eyes

the Campingaz bottles are worth selling as they are so expensive if you don't have an exchange bottle.
