Hope it doesn't cost too much to fix Caz, our car was in the garage all day yesterday as we had a warning light come on that stayed on ....... couldn't find anything really wrong so they gave it a full service as it was almost due and hey presto light has gone off. It also had the rear brakes changed so we're now all set for the winter weather but it has an MOT due next month .......... expensive business this motoring affraid

Our car is in the garage ....... again. We got stuck on the M60 yesterday and we discovered that we had a small leak on the radiator as steam came from the front Shocked went to the garage and put some radweld in but this morning when we used it you could have had a sauna sat on the bonnet ....... radiator is cream crackered and started leaking from the top as well. New radiator is going in tomorrow plus the pipe for the steering fluid has sprung a leak so it's being replaced too. Rolling Eyes

In all fairness though we have been racking the miles up at a rate of around 500 per week Laughing

We're off to participate in the international observing moon night tonight, so it might not be till tomorrow or Monday. We've got to empty and sort the van first, that isn't a five minute job, we'll need a holiday to recover from the holiday lol. :-)

What a week we've had, went to Wales last Friday afternoon then got a call to get home fast ..... trying to drive home with the dog in the car and it was pitch black due to having no lights on the motorway when we heard a whining from the steering, then we got to Queensferry to have to go back and around as they had closed the bridge overnight due to repairs from 8pm (it was now 8.40pm) Back down the motorway to go the Chester way instead (pitch black and raining) roadworks all the way home on the A55, the M56 and then the 60 (cars still whining and the dog is joining in too now) straight to the hospital with dog in the car. We arrived at around 11.10pm almost 3 hours for a journey that takes us around and hour and fifteen. Laura's pulse and temp was far too high and baby's pulse way too low so some intervention was needed to deliver baby ...... he arrived at 12.12am. cheers Four hours later still waiting to see a second urologist but he finally arrived and we went back to Wales because nothing had been turned off. What a Face

Car in garage ..... car out of garage ....... back in garage and £500 later all sorted. affraid Got myself a stinking cold from grandchild number 1 but came back to Wales yesterday as I had bought an awning for the van from fleabay for £46 and had to collect. Never again will I call a Dandy awning Evil or Very Mad took ages for us to thread through the awning rail ..... coughing and spluttering with a dripping nose I then slipped off the steps (had to stand on to reach the rail)and twisted my ankle also knocked my dodgy shoulder ..... putting the frame up I got hit on head with a steel roof pole and divorce proceedings were about to take place. Turns out the awning was a bargain but we won't be putting it up again so I've photographed it to sell on next season silent Had to turn the van around as it had sunk on the soft ground and I'm now thinking a caravan is far too much trouble so may sell it on next season along with the damn awning Rolling Eyes

The good news is the awning rail probably only wants a spray with mr sheen, but you certainly managed to fit some problems into a few days.

Sprayed it with silicone spray Mike and it did help but it's still a pain in the bum so it's going ....... life with a dandy is a lot less complicated and we've found the van less comfortable so have been bringing the dandy anyway and erecting it to use as a bedroom Embarassed sort of makes having a caravan a bit pointless apart from when the kids or family use it so we'll probably just pass it on if they want it.

In the spirit of people reporting poorly cars the Rover 400's performance has been a bit down first noticed it on the way down to Goodwood but never thought any more about it. A bit stupid as it turns out as this years charity was the Fly Navy Heritage Trust and there was a plethora of Navy tech types from HMS Sultan who could no doubt have supplied me with a suitably sized piece of alloy tube. When examined the problem was with the hose from the intercooler to the inlet manifold. These burst with annoying regularity I've never had a Diesel Rover where the hose didn't burst. So rather than spending my week shopping for a Rover pipe in a strange area and paying £50 plus I decided I'd bodge and do a fix while I looked at options. So I stumped up £5 to a garage and liberated 2 large Jubilee Clips and got to cut a length off a scrapped exhaust.
