Thats the beauty of letting a thread like this run,even when out of date it can still be useful.

Two dandy up for sale one is 1987 garage stored and refurbished. One is 1996 winterised and clean. Given that they are both sound is it no contest for the newer one? javascript:emoticonp('')

Must admit if it fills he bill the later winterised one would be top of my list

Thanks Mike that's what I was thinking, but I saw a thread that claimed that earlier Dandys where the best. Have you written a page of points to look for? I have looked for but not found it.

Thanks Mike, Had to drive 550 miles and stop overnight at Formula1 but A very clean winterised double glazed jobbie. Now we have to decide haw soon to camp. And sell the Narrowboat.

What narrow boat do you have? Not that I would know if you said, lol. We live next to a canal, I always like looking at the individualness of them, they remind me of campervans.

A week or a fortnights rental will cover the cost of the Dandy.
What size? Try and mug my friends. I could be well interested in hiring.

Made the mistake of loaning the boat to a friend and they managed to destroy the cratch ( the wooden bit at the front), and instead of telling me tried to replace it with a totally unsuitable repair. It is a 50ft trad Colecraft built in 1986. and is moored on the Kennet and Avon near Bradford upon Avon.

I'm pleased you explained what a cratch is, I wouldn't have known.

1986 is the same year as Molly (my campervan) this year we were camping in her and my mum and dad were on a canal holiday, the hotel type, whilst on the phone to them I said their accommodation sounded spacious, apparently everyone laughed, well it was compared to ours.

Congratulations on your purchase,a narrow boat,life would be complete if i had a dandy,vw camper and a narrow boat

If its fully winterised and you take a convector heater you can camp in any weather,Christmas before last we where camping in -8 or 9 cant be exact now in a fully winterised delta and it was T shirt warm inside.
The trick with the winterised ones is bang the heat up and dont open the windows,the warmer they get the better.

Was fortunate enough that a friend loaned us a narrowboat for a week. 1st off was getting the linkage for forward / reverse adjusted. Then going into Skipton I was having kittens. Hogging the centre of the canal but constantly bouncing off rocks or just scraping the bottom, didn't realise any canal was so shallow.
